    3. Hello: New to the list. Seeking information on a family of Alexander's that lived in DeKalb County in the 19th Century. Mostly Thomas Alexander who was married to an Abigale and was from North Carolina orginally and his likely son John who was likely born in DeKalb County and was married to a Rebecca. Thomas is listed in the 1850 US Census John had a son William who was married to a Jane (Haas???) He moved to Daviess Co, Ky. Anyone researching the Alexander surname in DeKalb please contact me. 2. The reason that I was checking on him. Jubal Lee Burton is my ggrandfather. He married Mildred Virginia Holleman of Granville Tn, daughter of Joel P Holleman. He brought with him two sons Noel born about 1848, and Andrew [think is Andrew Jackson] Burton, born about 1850. Do not know if Lourisa Carolina is his and Mildreds or not. Probably is. Do not know the birth date. All we know about him is that he is in the 1860 Jackson co Census, Granville area. His name is spelled Jeoubalee or something like that. The family has Jubal, Jobe Lee, Jube Lee. He died around lat3 1869 or early 1870. They had a son born Nov 1869, and in the 1870 census she is a widow. This is all I know about him. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Gerelene Burton Wiley

    3. Clara, I think the two field-stone marked graves at the foot of Abraham Lincoln Smith's grave at Ashburn-Burton MAY be my gg grandparents Charles Smith Jr. and his first wife, Alice C. "Alacy" Fisher. Charles's death certificate in 1923 states he was buried at "Burton Cemetery". That is the only Burton cemetery I am aware of in the Silver Point area, and he died in Silver Point. Who should I contact about getting a marker for them? 3. The Burtons near Liberty were not related to Henry Burton on Mine Lick, the 8th District. Our Henry on Mine Lick was a Baptist minister and JP for the 8th Dist. He and Mary had 14 chldren, so many descendants. He died in 1853. Charles was their son. The Ashburn-Burton cemetary is on the Putnam County side of the county line on Hwy.56. I believe, without checking, that Jubal was of the Liberty area Burtons, who came from Maryland. Clyde LeFevre

    3. Was he living anywhere near Silver Point? My Burton family was from that area. There was also an old Henry Burton who lived in Liberty. I do not know if this was MY Henry Burton or not from White County. But I am descended from a Henry Burton born about 1782 who married Mary William, daughter of William and Judith (some say Baker) Williams, who settled early in White County. Might want to check the edges of DeKalb close to White and Putnam, and also over towards Liberty near Cannon, Smith, and Wilson Counties... There is a Ashburn-Burton Cemetery close to Silver Point, but not sure if it's on the DeKalb side or Putnam side of the county line. Just know it's real close... A Charles Burton came into that area too early, near Quarles (now Cookeville) if I recall very early also. So your Jubal has to be off one of those three Burton families I would think.
