I sure would like to find out more information on him. No one has owned up to being kin to him at all. When he married Mildred he brought with him Noel, born about 1848. and Andrew [Andrew Jackson} born around 1850. I found Noel in the 1880 Smith Co Tn census married with family.. He has a son named Jublin. Andrew is in the 1870 Jackson Co Tn census, married with family. Andrew had a son named Jubel. That is the only year I fine Jubel and Jublin with the family. I know that Andrews first wife died and he remarried. Could the Jublin living with Noel in 1880 belong to Andrew. Also Andrew had a Margaret. The Margaret and Jubel in the 1870 census . They are the same age and the ones with Noel in the 1880 Smith Co Tn census. Sure would like to find someone who could help and knew about the family and could tell me where Jubel picked up Noel and Andrew. Thanks for the help. Is is greatly appreciated. Gerelene
Gerelene, I looked at the 1860 Jackson Co TN census microfilm image and comparing the handwritting of the census taker of your ancestors name, to letters in other names on the page, my interpretation of the spelling is: Jubalee. I can not access the sight. What do you think that the name is.? Passed down through the years is that is Jubal Lee, Jobe Lee. Jubalee or Jube lee. Only record of spelling is the one census and it is not clear. Any help appreciated. Gerelene
Who was Sarah Caroline Burton who married John H. Maynard about 1828 in the Mine Lick community? Both were from NC.
try this link or just go to the Dekalb County message board on rootsweb. Darlene _http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.sta tes.tennessee.counties.dekalb_ (http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.dekalb)
Click on this link and it will take you to the De Kalb County message board. I posted just the image if your Jubal Burton name so you could see how it was written The J could be a different letter depending on the transcriber. Thanks Darlene for all the work you did to get this info to the Burton researchers. Hopefully I can find some helpful info in this. Does anyone know where this Jubal is in 1860? thanks for all the hard work. Have a blessed day Gerelene
Thanks so much for the information. Have a blessed day Gerelene
Thanks Betty. Jubal is my g grandfather. Jefferson Davis Burton is my grandfather. I have the info on the family and her. I just can not find anything on Jubalee except what is in the 1860 Jackson Co Tn Census. Nothing else. I have been looking for more info on him for years. No luck. There are only 3 death certificates on the children. All have his name spelled differently. Jube, Jobe, Joel Lee Burton. The grandchildren say it is Jubal Lee or that sound. When he married Mildred Virginia "Middie" Holleman.[death certificate on her says unknown where the space is for spouse, She died in 1922} he brought with him 2 males. Noel Burton born about 1848 and Andrew [Andrew Jackson} born aabt. 1850. Have found them in the census. Have not been able to get a response from anyone on them. Thanks for your help. Have a blessed day Gerelene Burton Wiley
