Can anyone tell me where the land of the Family of James STANDFORD (1780 to abt1850) and James P. STANFORD (1826-1866) was located. I know it was somewhere around Dowelltown, Snow's Hill, Dry Creek Bridge, and Asbury Church area. I am trying to locate a possible grave site for the Family. Thank You Ron Stanford in New York __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

Hello Cousins! I am working on the Dekalb County website for our families. I am sorry for any delays as I have been working on my home, which was badly damaged by hurricane Charley. Currently, I'm living in a camping trailer on my property. Yes, it's been that LONG to get anything done! If you have any suggestions, ideas or thoughts regarding the site, please let me know. I'll try to do the same excellent job as Athol did in the past. For those who don't know me, I am related to the Joines and Mathes families. My direct ancestor was Poindexter Joines. That probably makes me related to a lot of families! I know we have several branches going into the Hale, Spencer, Dirting and many many others! Thank you, Maggie
Thanks I remember them. In 1959 there was Junior on basketball team named Urias Lafever. D. Mitchell Jones http://www.dmitchelljones.org
Mitch, That was a different Urias, a cousin from the Johnsons Chapel area, still around. Si has two children still alive, Fern, Mrs. Edwin Webb, in a nursing home here, and Omega "Peggy", Mrs. Harry Kutz in California, age 90. Daughter-in-law Eva Mae is still going and still lives in Atlanta. Clyde LeFevre.
Close Harmony-A History of Southern Gospel(UNC Press 2002) by Dr. James R. Goff, Jr. on page 128-- "The LeFevres first emerged as a family trio of children singing country tunes in 1921. Eleven year old Urias sang lead and picked the banjo, nine year old Alphus sang tenor and played the fiddle, and thriteen year old Maude took the alto part and played the guitar. Maude married and left the group. In 1934 Urias married Eva Mae Whittington who joined the group to sing alto and play the piano. " The LeFevres sing "The Old Gospel Ship" c 1940 on the cd-- Close Harmony A History of Southern Gospel Music Volume One 1920-1955. There is also a photo of Eva, Alphus and Urias in the little booklet in the cd. I got it from BMG Music #D160069.
