    3. I suppose its possible. I've not heard of it before, but what info do you have on Solomon? She was living in DeKalb County in 1880 near Sligo, I think, and perhaps some of the Solomons were with her? Someone sent me info one time claiming she was from Blount county, but I could never make the connection. Lot of Steele's over there though! 3. Yep, John Steele was born 1786 in Virginia. He married Jane Compton in Wilson County, TN in 1810, and died August 1871 in Dekalb County, TN. His first wife died before 1844, when he married Mahala Goodman, and had two daughters by her. His son, William Steele, was born 1827. William Steele married Sissy McDole and had a son named James Steele born February 1850. James married Mary Jane (Bozarth) Smith-Lewis, widow of George Smith Jr. and James Knox Polk Lewis, in 1872. My maternal great-grandfather James Lawson Steele was born July 1879, and married Oma Smith, daughter of Charles Smith Jr. and Alice C. "Alacey" Fisher (daughter of Logan Gay Fisher and Martha Gregston, and granddaughter of John Fisher III and Alcey Reynolds), May 8, 1901 in Dekalb County. As for LaFevers......Eli LaFever was the brother of my third great-grandfather Andrew LaFever Jr., born 1814, who married Celia Steele, whom I believe to have been another daughter of John and Jane (Compton) Steele. (John's brother Alexander Steele married Lucy Compton about 1807 in Wilson County). Andrew's daughter, Louisa Ann LaFever (1847-1925) married William Henry Harrison Judd (1841-1919) in 1862. Their daughter, Leitha Catherine Judd (1877-1941), married William A. Rice (1871-1909), and they were my maternal grandfather William Logan Rice's parents. William Logan Rice (1904-1981) married Mary Dell Steele (1906-1987) March 25, 1926 in Putnam County, TN. Mary Dell was the daughter of the aforementioned James Lawson Steele and Oma Green Smith. 3. I don't have a whole lot as yet. Mary Williams was the daughter of William Williams and Judith, some say BAKER. I do NOT know if he is the same Capt. William Williams from Edgecombe County, South Carolina, who served in the North Carolina Continental Line as a Captain. My William Rice was on the 1814 White County, TN taxlist in "Capt. William Williams Company" so he is possibly the same William Williams who had a lot of land in Warren County too! Henry Burton was born 1781 possibly in Maryland, and apparently helped establish the town of Liberty with Adam Dale, or so I'm told. He had several children, and I'm at a loss to identify any of them at the moment except for Nancy born 1814. If Mitch Jones is on this list, he could probably tell you more than I can right now. It's a fairly long story but I believe that some children who were Grandchildren of Daniel and Comfort Pittman and were listed on the 1870 Census of Rutherford Co. TN as Pittman(living with the widowed Comfort Pittman) are actually Fishers as I found them living with Bettie (whom I believe to be their mother)daughter of Daniel and Comfort .....and they are listed as her husband's step children and as Fishers in the 1880 Dekalb Co. TN census....also lived close to my direct line David Pitman who married Mary Adcock (dau. of Thomas Adcock ) There are several Fisher families living near my Pittmans in the 1850 Census of Dekalb Co. TN. Other families who lived near were Chapshaws and the Dunhams. There is some speculation among some Pittman researchers that Comfort's maiden name may have been Fisher but I've not ran across any proof in my research. Would love to find a marriage record for Daniel and Comfort. 3. Ramona I looked at the site.. I dont know for sure but I would suspect its not a good deal. I always look for a way to contact a business. Like an address, phone number, etc. My advise stay away most likely. I dont remember seeing this site coming across the span list yet.
