My Dad's birth certificate has Sidney born in Smithville in 1901. But could be Smith County,as my Grandmother had to help my Dad get a replacement birth certificate just before she died.Sometime Smith Co and Smithville get mixed up. I can't find Robert in any census after 1880 and I didn't find Victoria in census again until 1920 in Robertson Co with their children. [email protected]

Are you related to James Maynard? His wife name is Linda. James has been sick with cancer. I havent heard of Fisher but my great great great grandmother's name was Norma Steele married to Jones. I cant remember his first name. Norma Steele was hearing impaired due to bone growth inside both of hers I think the bone grew near the staples near cochlear. YOu might have seen the house near the Ashburn-Burton cemetry. It collapsed down. I lived there for a few months when I was a toddler. My great great great paternal grandfather's name was Sterling Smith. His daughter married to a Mitchell. Caldonia Herrin married to Jessie (or Jesse) Ashburn. Burtons are connected to Maynards I'm told. It's interesting that my great-granny Oma Smith Steele, before she married, was living in the 8th District of Putnam with an old man Maynard and her illegitimate son Ezra (later took the name "Steele" when she married James Lawson Steele in 1901). She's buried in Maynard Cemetery...Makes me wonder if there's some other familial connection between the Smith and Maynard families further back. My great-great grandparents Charles Smith Jr. and his first wife Alice C. Fisher are buried there in graves marked only by fieldstones, at the foot of Abraham Lincoln Smith's grave. I was told that they're buried there. Also buried there are Ezra Steele and Molly (Herrin) Steele, my granduncle and aunt. Ezra was my granny's brother. Laura Are you aware that Nicholas Fisher had a daughter, Anice. I feel that she would probably be too old to be your Annis. She had a sister in the Smith Co. area. Bob I'm having a difficult time tracing a Fisher ancestor. Annie/Annis Fisher m. Jesse Bruton in 1819 in the DeKalb/Smith county area. I have no information on her parents. Possibly the name of their children would help: Rebecca, Nancy, Amanda, James Harvey, Horatio Wayne, Enoch, Rivers Risdon(or Risdon Rivers), Fisher Livingston, Hazelwood Smith, Cantrell Bethel, Annette Minerva and Thomas Hart Benton. The first 5 or 6 were born in DeKalb/Smith area. The remaining in the Springfield, MO area. Any info on Fishers in the DeKalb/Smith area at that time would be appreciated. Folks, a major part of our 20th century research records are about to be denied us. PLEASE, email or call a KY senator and/or the governor's office immediately to express your opinion about this bill. If your ancestors were from KY but you don't live in KY, this still affects you and your ability to do long distance research online. 2 URLs are provided for you at the bottom of this message Sharon The Kentucky Legislature is about to make some changes to the law concerning birth and death records in Kentucky making it harder to get copies. The only ones who can get a copy will be yourself, immediate family member, or authorized representative, i.e.. lawyer, doctor, funeral director. The biggest change is that the new law eliminates the INDEX for births and deaths. No part of the record may be obtained unless you can meet the criteria for obtaining a copy. The index will no longer be available online, on CD or in libraries. There is a provision for genealogists to get copies of births after 100 years and deaths after the person has been deceased for 50 years. If the person is still living, you must get permission from that person to obtain the certificate. What about someone who died in say, 1956? How will you get permission to receive a copy? House Bill HB 523 is currently in the Judiciary Committee. It will be voted on in the Kentucky Senate within a few days, perhaps as early as tomorrow. PLEASE, send a message to the Senators from Kentucky telling them how much we rely on these records for genealogical research. Genealogical tourism, including money spent for copies at the Office of Vital Statistics, Historical Societies, and Archives in Kentucky will be affected by this change. Money talks especially in these days of budget shortfalls. Henry and Samuel are apparently connected in some way! What is even more interesting, and I hope you'll check Delaware records on this, Adam Dale proved the will of William Rice 1816 in Claiborne county, TN. My William B. Rice was in Capt. William Williams' Company on the 1814 White County, TN taxlist, and Dale also was a witness to the will of William Williams, who I think died sometime prior to 1820. I am wondering if you have seen any RICE's listed in the same area that your Dales and Burtons were in back in Delaware? Henry Burton's father was supposedly an Isaac or John Isaac Burton and his mother a "Delila" or "Dellia". There was also a Charles Burton in that same area who was born 1782, and may have been Henry's brother. An Ann Moor also proved William Rice's will, and I know that in Maury County, where old Adam Dale removed to after leaving Liberty, and before he settled finally in North Alabama, some of his children married into the MOORE family.
