    1. [TNDEKALB] Allen Family circa 1870
    2. John
    3. My name is John Crawford. I've been researching my family tree for a number of years. My Grandfather, Craven Allen Crofford, was born in 1972 in TN. He had a sister who died of TB in her 20's and a brother named John who was older than he. My grandfather told my father and aunt that his parents died when he was 6. This would have been circa 1878, the year of the yellow fever epidemic. He said that the neighbors took he and his siblings and raised them. The neighbors who took his brother, John, moved away and he never saw John again. I recently found my grandfather in the 1880 DeKalb County, TN census. He was with the following family; Chas. Crofford 62 b. VA Elizabeth Crofford wife 54 b. TN Rachel Crofford dau. 14 b. TN Margaret A. Crofford dau. 12 b. TN Craven A. Crofford son 8 b. TN I noticed that the last two children have the middle initial of the A, while Rachel did not have a middle initial. If my Grandfather is correct about his age when his parents died this is the family that raised him. There is a four year span between Margaret A. Crofford and Craven A. Crofford... which would allow for an older brother named John, as my Grandfather mentioned. I have another cousin, who's relative died around the same era. She finally found his wife and children in KY where the children had assumed the step- father's name. Their true last name was used as their middle name. Does anyone have a couple named Allen who died around 1878? Thanks, John Subject: [TNDEKALB] Caney Fork > Does anyone know where the name Caney Fork came from? Lucinda (Lucindy) Taylor b Jan 2, 1826 sp James Cantrell 2nd M. after 1830 Of Henry H. Taylor Some have thought his name to be Henry Watson Taylor but all legal records of his estate name him as Henry H. Watson. Bible records have never agreed 100% with the names of his children. Some think his wife Beady may have been a Watson (unproven). No info on the second wife. Court records show provisions for a year were given to his widow (not named). First wife Beady died 8 years before Henry and he died in 1835. 1830 census only lists what appears to be his children. At death estate was to be divided ten ways but when distribution of his property was done, it was divided nine ways and no names given. Two of Henry's sons are found on the Dade Couty Missouri census of 1850. Farris and Wilson. Farris eventually moved to Searcy CO AR. and it goes on and on. TAYLORs really need these books. Rebecca

    2. I too am interested in the Taylors and specifically how they fit in with the Drury (Drewry) family. Nancy d of Barzela Taylor m. Wm. Drury. Some information I got from the LDS files shows the Rice family married intot he Taylor family. Wm. (b 1767) m. a Rice. This traces the Taylors back to Va. I have not done personal research on all of this, just got it from someone else. I also was sent some of the Dakalb Co. Court minutes from the period 1837-49 which mention Taylors. One entry states that Wilson Taylor be appointed guardian to Lucinda and Jacob Taylor, minor heirs of Henry H. Taylor deceased. Later Wilson Taylor is mentioned as being guardian the Sarah Taylor, heir of Henry Taylor Deceased. In the 1870 census one of the Taylors listed is a Wilson, 60. Living in his house are also Lucy 60, George 19 and Nancy 16. I think some of the Taylors moved to the area around Searcy Co. Arkansas at the same time the Drurys did. Does this fit with information anyone else had? Carolyn
