    1. Family of John W. Williams and Martha A. Simpson

    3. I am wondering if the Josephine Williams born about 1865 in the household of John Williams and Martha A. Simpson in DeKalb County is the "Jennie" MACK who married Jake Presley? Is there a marriage in DeKalb for a Mr. Mack to a Josephine Williams circa 1884-1891? Are any of you researching the Williams and Simpson families living near Temperance Hall? If so, I would like to hear from you. I am researching Presley, Williams, Simpson, and Hayes from that area for my neighbors. I have the Presley's back to Johannes Valentine Presslar born in the Palentin (now Germany) in 1709. Andrew Milton Presley's wife was Judah Hayes. She died before 1869, and Andrew then married Mary L. Ferrell, which a lady told me about earlier today. Who were Judah's parents? 3. Thanks, I found a death record for Jennie Presley of 24 Feb 1945, with burial in the Plunkett Cemetery. Is this cemetery in Putnam or DeKalb? I have never heard of it. Jennie's death record states her maiden name as WILLIAMS, so she must have married a MACK between 1884-1891. In 1891 she married Jacob "Jake" Presley. I could find NO Mack's in the 1880 census in that region. Her mother was given as Martha Williams. Father's name unknown. She was born in DeKalb County 13 October 1866. Have the Putnam County obits in the 1940's been transcribed? 3. Andrew Milton Presley is shown in 1860 with wife Judah Hayes in DeKalb County. In 1870 he is DeKalb County near Laurel Hill with wife Mary L. age 41. Is there a marriage record for Andrew Milton Presley to a Mary ___ between 1860 and 1870? I also have a marriage date of 20 June 1891 for Jacob B. Presley to Jenny MACK. Who were Jenny's parents? I'm researching this family for some Presley neighbors. Turns out they're related to MY Presley's further back in North Carolina, being descended from Johannes Valentine Presslar through his son Pieter Presslar, while I am descended from Pieter's brother Andreas Presslar, through his son Thomas "Presley" of Anson/Mecklenburg Counties NC. I'm trying to tie up a few loose ends for them and would greatly appreciate your help. Jacob apparently was the father of George Fate Presley born 1913 in Putnam County, who died July 1981 in Baxter, Putnam County, TN. 3. I'll keep it in mind while I'm looking. A hint if you're looking try Smith County, DeKalb used to be part of Smith. Your J.H. is not mine.. However try looking for James Henry, if he's related to mine he might be from Kentucky. Matlock and Zelpha came up from Kentucky.. guess is about 1828-1831, but this is all theory. It can be very confusing.. as the names intermingled a lot. We've also got an Enoch Roberts marrying 4th cousin Mattie, so there could be a few intermarriaes. There is a Self Site online, I've got a Keziah Self/Nuckols think she married into my Bewley's(there's a fight with researchers over her last name and haven't gotten to that side yet) have you been there yet? http://www.selfroots.com/index.html But I will keep you in mind as I search through the Roberts Let me know if I can be of anymore help.. :) -----Original Message----- From: LGMAJ@aol.com [mailto:LGMAJ@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, July 22, 2004 7:38 AM To: TNDEKALB-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNDEKALB] Roberts in DeKalb I am also looking for the ROBERTS family. This New Mexican doesn't know where William A. died, or if he were in the Civil War, along with his brothers, Hardin Smith (who was killed in the Battle of Stone's River) or Charles Patrick (who survived the Civil War, and was working in a canning factory by next Census. Descendants of William and Rosalinda would be; 1)Elizabeth Lane Mullican (who died Jul 22, 1939, De Kalb Co, but is burried in Mt. View Cemetery, McMinnville. 2) Willie Etta Lane Pennington (b 1864, DeKalb-d Jul 1797, Warren Co. buried in Bethlelem Cemetery (don't know location) Her husband, William Houston Pennington (Dec 31, 1899, Warren---no death date) was son of Joseph Penningtonand Betty Womack. Since the Womack family seems to be documented, perhaps we should search from that angle? Also, we cannot find Nancy Amanda Lane (b 1850, Warren) who MAY have married a John Goodrum? Anyone know about this youngest daughter of Endymion Baker Jane Campbell Lane? AND clues would be appreciated. Thanks. VB

    3. Looking for information on the following Roberts Family in DeKalb, TN. They moved there when it was still part of Smith County. I have pictures and a fair amount of information on some decendents of Matlock and would like to share and add more. If you know of any links to this family please let me know. The first four children listed below are unconfirmed and may be grandchildren. However I believe Milton to be their first born born in 1828-1830, as he is listed first on the estate settlement, however does not appear in the 1850 census. I have found a Milton Roberts in Smith County married to a Mary Gillihan in 1849, and according to the census his age is right for this to work. Please look at the family and if you see any similiarities or suggestions please let me know.
