Renea, In the book History of Decatur County there is a Jim Chalk listed as serving as sheriff from 1910-1941. The reason your post caught my eye was the name CHALK. My father Robert Lee Mayo was deputy sheriff in Decatur Co., under Jim CHALK. My brother said he remembered our father telling stories about being deputy and always remembered our Dad talking about Jim CHALK. I know this is not much but wanted to relate to story to you.
