What a great idea. My father and grandfather were both born in Decaturville. The surname is am researching is MAYO. James Benjamin MAYO born 1857, His father James Wesley MAYO worked on the courthouse when it burned in 1869, he was on the committee to build a new courthouse. I don't know much about James Wesley, he died in Decatur Co., but have not been able to find out where or when. My father, Robert Lee MAYO was sherriff in Decatur Co., from 1918-1920. All of my father's family never left Decatur Co., and I still have many relatives there. The story of how I met all my people I will save for another time. I also have the marriage book EARLY MARRIAGE RECORDS (1869-1921) DECATUR CO., TN and will be happy to do look-ups for anyone that needs them. Glad to be aboard this new list.
