HEART ATTACK IS FATAL TO W.A. PARTIN Walter A. Partin of Memphis died at his home last Friday night after suffering a heart attack about 11 pm. Funeral services were held in Parsons Sunday afternoon with burial in Parsons cemetery. He was 66. Mr. Partin had been in good health prior to the fatal attack and had not previously suffered from heart trouble. He had worked at his regular position on the day of his death. All members of the family, except the son, Austin Partin, were present with him at the time of the attack. The younger daughter, Mrs. J.C. Barber, and family had come for a weekend visit. He was born in Decatur County, near old Partinville, and spent most of his life in Parsons. He was engaged in the seed and hardware business for about 30 years. He served several months in the Army when a young man. He received a commission by apppointment fromm President Theodore Roosevelt. He was released because of ill health. For the past seven years he had been a civilian worker for the Army. For four years he had been at the Army General Deport in Memphis. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Effie Lillian Taylor Partin; Two daughters, Miss Virginia Partin of Memphis and Mrs. Frances Barber of Florence, Alabama; a son, Austin Partin of Union University in Jackson; a brother, Carl W. Partin of Parsons; and a sister Mrs. Ada Lee Medearis of Knoxville. Services were conducted at the First Baptist Church by Rev. Wade Carver and Rev. Woodard Bartholomew. Mr. Partin had joined that church in 1897 and at his death had been a member longer than any other person. Parsons Mortuary had charge of local arrangements. RESPECTED COLORED MAN BURIED LAST SATURDAY Ray McDonald was buried in the Parsons Negro Cemetery last Saturday following his death Thursday night. Ray was a son of Frank and Florence McDonald and was about 55 years of age. He had been in poor health but a short time.
