    3. TWO WAR DEAD ARE RETURNED FOR BURIAL The bodies of two World War II dead from Decatur County were returned to the Unites States this week. Both came from the Pacific area. The body of Pfc. George B. Smith will be returned for burial at Decaturville. Pfc. Smith was a brother of Madison Smith of Parsons, Clyde Smith of Decaturville, Mrs. W.S. Dennison of Lexington and Mrs. W.H. Volner of Decaturville. The body of Sgt. Jessie J. Collett is also being returned to the county for burial. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Collett of Parsons. Two to five weeks will elapse before the bodies can be shipped from San Francisco to the Atlanta General Depot and then distributed by escorts to the next of kin. W.C. SEWELL DIED MONDAY William Carroll Sewell died suddenly at his work about 2:00 p.m. on Monday from a heart attack. He was 50. Mr. Sewell and family moved to Parsons some years ago and he was employed with the TVA for some time, following which he did carpenter work and at the time of his death he was working in timber cutting for A.R. Evans. He was working near the home of Ode Coleman, about three miles north of Parsons, when stricken. Death was sudden without his uttering even one sound. Three other men were in the party in which he was working. Mr. Sewell was a Christian man, a member of the Mt. Carmel Methodist Church and a splendid citizen. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Edna Earl Sewell; three daughters, Misses Aline, Freda and Carolyn Sewell; four brothers, Ollie of Perry County, Robert and Charles of Calvert City, Kentucky, and Neal of Chattanooga; and three sisters, Mrs. Flora Lacy and Mrs. Edna Vise of Decaturville and Mrs. Nora Boswell of Terrace, California; also many more distant relatives and a great host of friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Mt. Carmel Church and were conducted by Rev. H.E. Trevathan, pastor of the Parsons Methodist Church. Burial was in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Parsons Mortuary had charge of arrangements. ________________________________________________________________ Sent via the WebMail system at decaturcountytn.org
