I appreciate the kind words about the warning, but they were the words of my good friend Jan. Remember that everything except primary documents or sources are just tools to be used, some better than others. Even primary documents can be incorrect. I have a great-gr-grandfather, Bart Eaves who I was told, by his grandson, was married to Margaret Stigall in Henry Co, TN. His pension application also gave his wife as Margaret Stegall. When I checked the microfilm of marriage records for Henry Co, I found him listed when he married his first wife, Elizabeth Ramsey and entries later marrying 2nd wife, Margaret Ramsey. How could this be?! I spent countless hours looking for a marriage of Margaret to a Ramsey thinking perhaps she was married twice. Not finding an earlier marriage, I thought this would remain an unconfirmed mistake and went on feeling sure that he married Margaret Stigall 2nd. Several years later, loose marriage records were located in Henry Co and microfilmed. The marriage bond for Bart Eaves and Margaret Stigall are part of these. The clerk filling out the marriage book made a mistake and now I have the proof.
