Jennings 18F Domestic TN., MJ E Jennings 6/12 F TN. The MJE Jennings would be dau. Mary . In the Barnett Cem. Census of Dec.Co. there is an entry for: LaVerna A. Jennings wife of J. W. Jennings D.12-25-1869 age 28yrs 4mos 22days >From K.K. Houston’s notes he has a transcript of “Old Nathaniel Barnett Bible” in possession of Mrs. Alta Dyer, Reagan, Tenn. Listed: Laverna Ann Barnett 8-3-1841 Mary Jane Barnett 5-25-1827 d 1-1915 (penciled in beside Mary Jane Barnett is note by K.K. Houston “m Jim Jennings” I feel that K.K.Houston got his information about this marriage to Jim Jennings "word of mouth" as I can find no documention. Mary Jane was the name of JWJ and LA Barnett’s dau so this may have confused someone. The Mary Jane Barnett listed in bible would be several years J.W.J.'s senior and an unlikey candidate for his wife. She also lived past his second marriage date based on subsequent birth dates of children with Dodd. Also listed in this bible is Martha Roena Barnett 1-15-59 d.11-25-1940. Unlikely candidate either. I would appreciate any information that might add anything to this point. The will of Nathaniel Barnett, father of La Verna, might shed some additional documentation. Such data might be in the microfilm of Dec. Co. wills which I don't have access to at the moment.
