Decatur Co was a part of Perry county until 1845, but not Henderson Co.Goodspeed's says that Henderson Co was originally part of the western district, created by an act of the legislature on 16 Nov 1821, but under control of Stewart Co until formal organization in 1822. In 1845 a section was cut off and added to newly forming Decatur Co and another smaller section was added to Madison Co. In 1868, a section was added to Chester Co.
