    3. l. Is it a history book? No. It is more a vanity publication. The publisher talks some local organization, in this case the Decatur County Historical Society, into being responsible for getting material. Most people submit a picture of their immediate family and a family history and purchase copies. What history is available is various odds and ends submitted by various people, and the quality varies extremely. The Bath Springs article states that it was settled in the late 1700s (it was not settled until about 1819-1820) and that the first ferry to Wayne County was the "Carivalle Ferry" (it was the Carrollville). 2. How far back in years? Most people do not know their families beyond grandparents or great-grandparents they knew personally, though it is relatively easy to trace families back to the civil war period. So, in the history, many familes are not taken back earlier than the 20th century, and most of the rest go back only to the Civil War period. Very few family histories go back earlier. There is almost nothing about the history of or life in Decatur County in the nineteenth. The discussion of the history of Perryville begins in the 1920s, when Perryville was a century old. There is no discussion of ninteenth century merchants, agriculture, or industries. 3. Are there mentioned A. Goodman NO B. Crawley NO (no B.
