I am researching Hugh MONTGOMERY who lived in the Cumberland Gap of Tennessee in 1834 when my gggrandmother was born (Armilda Jane MONTGOMERY who later married Rufus Taylor LIGHTFOOT). I believe my Hugh MONTGOMERY possibly had a brother named James, as they both lived in Claiborne co. in 1840, but moved before 1850. Is your James possibly related to this bunch? I'd love to hear from you and compare notes. I'm just getting started on this branch of my family tree and know very little about the MONTGOMERY line, I'm afraid.
