Am still looking for information on Charles Franklin Murphy who married Pearl Smith. Charles Franklin was a brother to my grandfather, Perry Houston, both were sons of John Tye and Mary Ann Jones Murphy. John Tye was son of Daniel H. and Martha Kissah Tye Murphy, Daniel son of Daniel and Keria Murphy. Daniel (father of Daniel H.) was a Rev war veteran. I would also like to know if anyone knows anything about a Bartholomew Murphy. He appeared first in Perry County with Daniel H. and then later shows up in Henderson County next door to Daniel H. They then both appear together on Decatur census. Am not so sure that they really moved that often, but that the changing of the county lines may have entered into it. There are some more Murphys buried at Bethel Cemetery nears Scotts Hill, which is where John Tye and Mary Ann are buried as well as a couple of John Tye's daughter. I wonder if they descend from Bartholomew? I have not spent a large amount of time researching them, but do know that Daniel and Bartholomew witnessed some deeds and sales in Anson County, North Carolina before coming first to Perry County. I know that John Tye fought in the Civil War for the Confederacy and I believe that two sons of Bartholomew fought for the Union. Am wondering if that is why my dad and his brother do not know these Murphys. I may be chasing something that is not going to end up being family, but that old gut feeling says there is something here! Other lines from Decatur County/Henderson County area that interest me include: Eason, Caudle, Tucker, Keeton, McWhirter (have nothing on these except for names of great, g-g grandparents).
