The lodge you speak of is Old Center Lodge. I am not for sure about its number but it is located above Keeton's Grocery Store in Bath Springs, TN. There was a lodge at one time in Decaturville but due to a dwindling of members it was combined with the Parsons Lodge a few years ago. Scotts Hill also has the Ebenezer Lodge. The Eastern Star members for these organizations all belong to the Parsons Eastern Star. I would assume that the lodges themselves hold their records or forward them to the Grand Lodge in Memphis. I would doubt if you would get much information from them except what you can find publicly. They are a very private organization and do not devulge any information about certain aspects of their meetings. They would probably give you membership information and rankings of the said mason. My father, grandfather, uncles, husband, father-in-law, etc. are all masons and belong to the various lodges located in Decatur County. I know that each lodge has officers that include a secretary but I would think that the minutes of the meeting would be unavailable except to masons themselves. I don't know this for sure but if I were you I would contact the Al Chymia Temple in Memphis, TN or the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Nashville, TN and see if what they would tell you. Athalia Taylor, Director Decatur County Public Library >>> [email protected] 10/09/01 18:41 PM >>> I hope someone can answer some questions about the below Mason Lodges. I have no knowledge about Mason associations or organization. Information comes from handwritten resolution, 1908, by the Lodge my great grandfather belonged to. John Henry Dunkle of Decaturville, TN. Thank you for your help. Linda, Yorba Linda, CA Where are records for Maon Lodges of Decaturville, TN? Are archived records at the TN State level of Mason association or organization? Resolution starts " To the W.M. ?Wanderes and Brethren of Decaturville Lodge No. 218 ?F.T.A.M." What does Wanderes mean? What does ?F.T.A.M. mean? IS LODGE NO. 218 STILL IN EXISTENCE IN DECATURVILLE? Resolution continues "was made a master mason at Center Lodge No. 380 in the year 1900, and afliated with Decaturville Lodge No. 218 in the year 1903." WITHOUT REVEALING SECRET INFORMATION ON MASONS, WHAT LEVEL IS "MASTER MASON?" WAS CENTER LODGE NO. 380 IN DECATURVILLE? Resolution continues "Resolve 3rd that a copy of this resolution be given his family, and they be ?spread on the minute book and that a page on our record book be set apart to his memory." WHAT DOES "page be set apart to his memory"? DO MEMBERS WRITE THEIR MEMORIES ABOUT "PASSED ON" FELLOW MEMBERS ON THE LODGE RECORD BOOK? The resolution is signed J. M. ?H_____, H.A. Culp and ?I. S. Adkissons If you recognize any of the gentlemen who signed this resolution, would like to hear from you. I think the Culp family owned a grocery store in Decaturville or maybe in Perry Co. in 1900's.
My 2g-gfather was a member of a lodge in Reagan area of Henderson Co. abt. 1860 and few years later. My brother, who is a mason, was able to locate his records in the Lodge archives in Nashville. However, all they contained were his record of paying dues which were 25 cents per year. We were not able to determine which lodge he transfer to when that one was resolved, nor the name of his parents which was the information we most wanted. - Marge ----- Original Message ----- From: "Athalia Taylor" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, October 10, 2001 10:44 AM Subject: Re: [TNDECATU] Mason-Lodge 218-Decaturville > The lodge you speak of is Old Center Lodge.
