Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JeB.2ACE/627.1 Message Board Post: Jerry, I looked for year 1911 on microfilm of Decatur County Herald newspaper. As luck would have it, the whole year of 1911 is missing. I thought I might find something about the Pleasant Grove School fire. I just happen to have this microfilm at my local Mormon library on loan from Mormon FHL, Salt Lake. I keep renewing, they let me do it for free now and have had access to this microfillm for over 2 years now. I saw you mentioned "Three Way" and I wanted to tell you that there is a small piece about a school at Three Way on page 20 of History of Decatur County TN, published 1996. It's at the bottom of the page, 1st column, and continues into 2nd column. It said, 1913, Dr. Brooks donated land for new school. I had the thought that maybe Dr. Brooks bought land where the Pleasant Grove School used to be after it burned. If you don't have this book, let me know and I will post what it says. I will keep your request with me and will keep a lookout for information about Pleasant Grove School and/or Lancaster school as I go through microfilms of Decatur County Herald. I have found the Decatur County Herald often has information about schools, teachers, which students were boarding and at whose home they were boarding. Linda Re: Your Request Does anyone have any information on the Pleasant Grove School? The land is supposed to have been donated by David Lancaster. The school was also know as Lancaster School. The building burned in 1911. www.tropozone.com shows the Lancaster School to be located at "Three Way" near Bath Springs. I am looking for any history that anyone has on this school.
