In 1997, Colleen Tarket posted a message about Rosa Creasy, and stated that she could not find the rest of the family. I am a part of the 'rest of the family', and would be glad to exchange information, as would other family members. My maternal grandmother was Rosa Creasy's sister, so I guess that makes this request legal. Oma O'Shaunessy

I'm doing research on the Gossett family of Benton Co., TN. A Margret Portia "Pearlie" GOSSETT married James W. Pinkley (J.W.P.) DOUGLAS in 1893. I've found them in the 1920 census living in District 8 (probably Sugartree) of Decatur Co and the family is buried at Yellow Springs Cemetery.. Their children were Clovis J. b. 1895, Clara b. 1901, Dewey b. 1904, Zelma(?-male) b. 1907, Ressie b. 1912, and Opal b. 1915. Clovis married Lorene Baker and the only child I have record of is Louwana b. 1938. I have been unable to find marriage records for the other children and live too far away to do any local research. Is there anyone else researching this line?? Thanks, Glenda

Congratulations to your daughter on her graduation. We are now in South Carolina but Scotts Hill is my husband's home and where we lived and our children grew up until 1998. Your daughter and my son were in the same class. He will be graduating the 28th. I'm sure he would love to see everyone from back home. Sharon Tomlinson
Sorry I have been unable to post anymore obits. My husband has been in the hospital and my daughter is graduating high school next week. Hope to start putting more on there when I return from 3 day inservice at Clarksville the last week in May. I just didn't want everyone to think I had quit doing it. I have already received many nice responses from people who had connections with family or deceased that I have posted. The Same Rebecca J. Bunch. I have not done much work on this line, however, have some. Rebecca was first married to my great great grandfather, Robert S. Walker (son of John William Walker). Robert died in his 30s and left Rebecca with two sons, J. W. Walker and my grandfather, Robert Dorsey Walker (an infant). Rebecca married J. H. Thomas and had children with him. He died and she married (going from memory, cannot recall lst name) a Hollowell, who was a preacher. I believe Thomas was also a preacher. Rebecca was widowed for the third time! (may have been another marriage also).....In the 20s the went to live with my grandfather and grandmother, D.R. and Daisy Merrick Walker. They moved the bootheel of Missouri and she was there in the 1930 census. I have been unable to locate her burial site. I have heard rumors that she is buried in an unmarked grave. Would love to confirm and place a marker. Best wishes in your genealogy work. If I can help in any way! , let me know.

In the Biographical Directory preliminary volume for Madison County there was one person from Decatur County. It was a name I so associate with Parsons that I was surprised to see it. From: BIOGRAPHICAL DIRECTORY TENNESSEE GENERAL ASSEMBLY 1796-1969 (Preliminary, No. 41) MADISON COUNTY Townsend, Hobart L. (1905-) HOUSE, 70th and 71st General Assemblies, 1937-41; representing Madison County; Democrat. Born at Sugar Tree, Decatur County, on August 3, 1905; son of Eli Mansfield and Cordelia (Harrison) Townsend. Educated in public schools of Decatur County; Union University, Jackson, Madison County. Occupation: general insurance and bonds, Jackson. Married on October 6, 1933, to Ruth Jennings, daughter o Joe and Stella Jennings. One son--Hobart L. Townsend, Jr. Member of Baptist Church; Elks; Knights of Pythias; W.O.W.; Mason and Shiner. Before 1950 he removed to Parsons, Decatur County. Brother of William B. Townsend, sometime member Tennessee General Assembly. Sources: Gillum, Prominent Tennesseans, 99; Public Acts of Tennessee, 1937, 1939; information supplied by self.

On the Biographical Directory Tennessee General Assembly, today I made copies of the Decatur County pages in Preliminary 13 and Madison County volume (Prelininary 41). I will scan them as soom as I get a new monitor. I did not notice anyone in the Madison Co. volume with Decatur Co. connections but I have only glanced at it while turning pages at the copier. The Everett Horn Library in Lexington has a majority of the volumes (I did not county them) if you are interested in other counties, as does the Tennessee Room at the Jackson-Madison County Public Library which has a complete set (45). My monitor blew a couple of three ago and right now I am looking at the 640 pixel monitor which came with my IBM PS2 Model 50. I cannot remember how old it is; probably about 16-17 years. It is near impossible to do anything without at least an 800 pixel screen. I design web pages at 800 pixels. This ancient monitor has outlasted three computers and four newer monitors. David

She was Nancy Ellington Marshall (not Mary). 3. The child "whose name does not appear" was Jordan (04 Sept 1824 -TN----20 Nov 1867-TX. 4. I have considerable addl. info on HHB (censuses & land records, etc.) and info on all children. 5. I would truly like to correspond with anyone who has addl. info on HHB's death & burial. There was a tiny notice in the Nashville Whig indicating that he died there, but a land sale in June 1847 calls him "of Decatur Co." and the 1850 census shows his widow, with one daughter still 'at home' and 2 married children in Decatur Co.--Dist. 2, and another in Dist. 4.
