http://www.tngenweb.org/records/decatur/cemeteries/ I need to transcribe about five more cemeteries from the UDC cemetery book and write two more descriptions about unidentified black burials in "white" cemeteries, but I hope to finish the cemetery page later tonight. I would like to ask everyone to look at the cemetery page. Is there anything missing? If you have information about an old family cemetery not included in the UDC cemetery book, please share the information. In recent years a number of pentecostal-type churches have been establishing new cemeteries. Do you know of any of these not included? Do you know of other cemeteries which may include black burials? David
Renea, FYI, Emailed you using your email link under professional genealogist on Decatur Co website, the email came back as undeliverable. Could just be my ISP acting up again or maybe it was rootsweb, rootsweb server was down recently. Linda
David, Thanks so much for updating the Hartly Cemetery listing. You are correct that the 2 children listed at the end were Barnes Children. Lillian Corrine Barnes b abt 1919. and died when she was about 2 years.Fannie Bell Barnes b October 07,1914 and died October 8, 1915. They are infant daughters of James Henry Barnes and Flora Faulkner, my grand parents.. Thank you for including them. This was only partially because I found myself spending more time than I planned on Madison Co. It also has a lot to do with the Henderson Co. school server crash that ate all the updated cemeteries in April 2002, and the fact that the firewall software I now use will not let me on the school server. I have added updates of Hartley and Mt. Carmel. Tomorrow I will add updates of Wesson's Chapel and Hanes. I found the paper copy of the lost 2001 update of Hawkes. I am trying to decide whether to type it or update it first (I probably will update it). In the next two weeks I will be moving all the remaining cemeteries from the school server to the tngenweb server, including the transcriptions from the UDC cemetery book. The moved files will be changed to a more readable date format. David ==== TNDECATU Mailing List ==== To unsubscribe send message unsubscribe to TNDECATU-L-request@rootsweb.com
Battleground Missionary Baptist Church began a cemetery in 2002 and last year I recorded the single burial there. I remember Battlegroung being in the north of the county, west of TN69, and that there were signs leading to it from TN69. What I cannot remember is what road it is on. Does anyone know? David
I found a tip on rootsweb review about using public information to search for owners of properties. Below is website of State of Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury, Real Estate Assessment Data. I tried it, searching surnames I research in Decatur Co. TN. The date when the property was sold is available, deed book, property value, when sold, etc. The information appears not to go back to real early days, but then I haven't tried old addresses of my ancestors yet. Search some of your ancestor's addresses. You can also search using only last name. Give it a try. Good luck. Linda http://170.142.31.248/

Don't know if problem is with rootsweb or my ISP. Some deaf students from Decaturville, TN, are listed on the below website, early 1870's. The school was located in Knoxville, TN. I didn't check every year in the index, so there could be others from Decaturville or surrounding area in other years. http://www.knoxcotn.org/schools/tsd/students.htm Hope this helps someone. Linda
Below website of school for the deaf in Knoxville, TN, has some students from Decaturville, noticed a couple listed under 1870's. Linda http://www.knoxcotn.org/schools/tsd/students.htm

Renea, You might wish to add the below website of Deaf School in Knoxville, TN to Decatur Co TN website under education. There were several students from Decaturville, TN, early 1870's. Didn't check the whole student index, just happened to find this as I was looking for something else, and was curious what it was. Linda FYI, the below is indexed by counties http://www.knoxcotn.org/schools/tsd/enrollment.htm <A HREF="http://www.knoxcotn.org/schools/tsd/enrollment.htm">Tennesse School for the Deaf (1845-1945)</A>
http://www.tngenweb.org/records/decatur/cemeteries/hawkes.htm This afternoon, just as it got late enough to mow the yard without sunburn, a thunderstorm moved through and wet everything down. So I went to supper and then went to Hawkes Cemetery. So the new file has the cemetery as checked and updated in 2002 (lost in server crash) and an update to 2004. I have moved the cemeteries from the UDC cemetery book from the school server to the tngenweb server. I have a batch selected to scan and reformat. I plan to place all tne unnamed cemeteries in a single file. The Joe Duke tombstone which was found in the front yard of an old house in 1978 is now in Hawkes Cemetery. A few of the newly uploaded files have bad return links. I am trying to hunt all these down. David

She's buried at Moore's Schoolhouse in McNairy Co. I think someone has finally placed a marker there. In the county death records, her age is recorded as as 106! Oh, and Jacob Moore was not a doctor. His nickname was "Dock." My dad called him "Uncle Dock." Jacob was James B.'s brother--two brothers marrying two sisters. Robert Clifton is related to Nina's husband, but I can't recall how. Lot's of convoluted relationships in that line of the family.

I have no information on Wade Fisher prior to his marriage to Georgia Martin so any information that the Browning's can share would be so appreciated. I was not aware of the 6th sibling born to them. Our records only indicate 5 children born to Georgia and Wade. Hopefully they can shed some light on that unknown child. Any information that may have been passed down about his activities and where abouts prior to that marriage would be a real find. We have been told by my aunt, the only daughter born to Wade and Fannie, that he was on a river boat as an accountant or bookkeeper. The years from his birth to his first marriage are mostly a mystery. We have also been told, by this same aunt that perhaps he may have been Amish although none of this can or has been confirmed. I look forward to hearing from your cousin. Thanks, Kay

Wade then had 2 more wives (the 1910 census shows he was married 3 times and had 10 children; 9 of them living). In 1997, Colleen Tarket posted a message about Rosa Creasy, and stated that she could not find the rest of the family. I am a part of the 'rest of the family', and would be glad to exchange information, as would other family members. My maternal grandmother was Rosa Creasy's sister, so I guess that makes this request legal. > Oma O'Shaunessy > > > > ==== TNDECATU Mailing List ==== > To unsubscribe send message unsubscribe to > TNDECATU-L-request@rootsweb.com > >
