    3. If you go to the State Library web site, there is a listing of all records on microfilm for all counties of TN including Decatur. There is a link to that site on the Decatur Co website - go to Decatur Co research and then state resources. ----- Original Message ----- From: <mwatts@icx.net> To: <TNDECATU-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 04, 2004 3:31 PM Subject: [TNDECATU] microfilmed records of Decatur Co. > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: BUSSELL, JOHNSON > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JeB.2ACE/601 > > Message Board Post: > > Were all existing records of Decatur Co. microfilmed by the Tennessee State Library in their program back in the lae 1960's? 3. You need to contact Fred Smoot, Projects Coordinator for TNGenWeb Fred Smoot for instructions as to updating the cemetery listings. The repository records page and the cemeteries pages are all part of the same project as is also the county websites - lots of duplication of effort/ different locations for info concerning same counties all under the umbrella TNGenWeb a part of USGenWeb. Will be glad to add additional obits to the website! I am also in the process of typing up old obits and I will send them in groups to the list-serv coordinator for our county so they can be placed on the website. > > Athalia Taylor, Director > Decatur County Library > ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- > From: "max bawcum" <mbij@netease.net> > Reply-To: TNDECATU-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Tue, 30 Nov 2004 18:27:58 -0600 > > >I sure am glad the web page is back on. 3. I intend to continue his work in updating cemeteries in the Decatur County area. I am not familiar with where he sent them to as he composed them but perhaps someone on the list can help me. I know where he sent the ones for the repository records page but I don't know if anyone has access to the Decatur County Cemeteries website or where he sent this info to. Renae, if you read this perhaps you could help me. I am also in the process of typing up old obits and I will send them in groups to the list-serv coordinator for our county so they can be placed on the website. 2. Yes, I agree with maddog3, if I can help do anything to preserve or further Donahue's work, I will help. Once when I was crying for help from Decatur County, Tn., I received over 40 pages of history on my mother's Crawley family form David. And so far as I know David was not related to the Crawleys @ all. Thanks, Tom Goodman

    1. Re: [TNDECATU] David D's info
    2. Renea, It is my understanding that David Donahue was using space for his web pages provided for free on the server being used by Lexington High School, Lexington, TN. Since Mrs. Brenda Kirk Fiddler was an associate of David Donahue's on some information on David's web pages, she may be a good place to start to make inquiries. As far as I know Brenda is still the librarian at Lexington High School, Lexington, TN. Another contact is: Mari Byers, TNGenWeb Project State Coordinator at http://www.tngenweb.org/

It looks like David was in the process of moving his material to the TNGENWEB records site when he died. Hopefully, we can find a way to complete David's work in this area so that this valuable material will be preserved.

    3. I have received a few personal inquiries and some which have been on our mail list concerning the county/family history site of David Donaho. The cemetery information was given by him to TNGenWeb sometime in the past and so is still available online. The other information about families, etc came from a school server as I understand it. I don't know if this was Lexington or where. They evidently have with drawn the information. I don't know why. Perhaps someone living in the area could find out. I just know how my site works - I upload the info which you find at either the Decatur or Perry county sites. When you "click" on a link it will take you to a second page. If I decide to remove the link, you can still go to the second site if you had it bookmarked. In other words, the info is still out there in cyber space. However, I can also delete the site. When I do that you can no longer access it either by link or bookmark, it is no longer there.
