The formation of Decatur Co was the result of a petition dated 1845 to the general assembly of the state of TN. Novella Tole died Saturday in Milwaukee. She was principal/teacher at Perryville Elementary (black) in the 1940s, and later taught at Decatur County Training School (early 1950s-1956), Crowder School (1956-1965), and Decaturville Elementary (beginning 1965). She will be buried in Decaturville later this week. I recently found one of my PIERCE relatives married to an Elvira BENSON. Elvira`s parents were Levin Benson and Churchanna White Benson. Elvira is buried in Barren Springs Cemetery in Henderson Co. next to her husband Joel Pierce.
