    1. [TNDECATU] Proposed Prison
    2. For anyone who has ancestors in Carroll County, you may find the below information of interest. PROPOSED Prison on 700 acres of Natchez Trace Forest in Carroll County, TN According to TN State Rep. Steve McDaniel's office, Nashville, the prison site in Carroll County is one of many sites under consideration. An environmental report is under way on the Natchez Trace Forest site. His office said they had received several phone calls about the prison and also said that Carroll County favors the prison because of the 400 jobs being created. One wonders how many cemeteries might be on these 700 acres. 2. I will help support this effort. You would be amazed at the amount of surplus defense property that could be used for the same purpose. I live in west, TN and my family has enjoyed this treasure for years.

    3. Hi Athalia, does the Decatur County Library have tax records from the early 1800's and if it does, could someone check for a William Young for me? He was born about 1803 in Tennessee and as far as I know, always lived in the Perry/Decatur counties area. His wife's name was Almeda if that matters. The last census he was shown on was the 1860 one so probably died and is also buried in Decatur County. Thank you. 1. [TNDECATU] Henry HOWELL & Mary Ann POWELL?
    2. Hello Bennie Denton, We're talking about the same couple, however, I don't have Mary Ann's maiden name. I saw something somewhere, that I didn't make a record of.... that Henry HOWELL's wife was a Mary Ann POWELL, but due to the similarity of the two surnames, I reckon I figured it was a typographical keystroke by tired fingers. Do you have their marriage date confirmed, and was her surname POWELL? What sources do you have? YOU WROTE: Next William H Howell born 1840 married Julie A Smith( born either Perry or Wayne Co Tn). TOM's ANSWER: Basically I have the same info as you. William H. born about 1840, in Linden, Perry Co., TN. Julia A. Smith was born about 1838 in Linden, Perry Co., TN. They were married on 17 Mar 1866 in Knox Co., TN. I don't know their exact birth dates, nor their death dates or where they died, nor where they are buried. William Howell was a Private in Company I, 19th Tennessee Calvary, C.S.A., Enlisted 10 Sep 1862, Clifton, Wayne Co., Tennessee. I don't have anything on their children. YOU WROTE: Next William Henry (Widd) Howell married Elizabeth (Bettie) Powell are the Powell's related and does anyone know the descendents of Bettie Powell by her second husband. Any help would be appreciated. I would like a picture of Bettie Powell she is my grandfather's mother. TOM's COMMENT: Henry Howell (Jr) & Nancy Jane Steele had a son named William Henry Howell. This William Henry Howell is not to be confused with his uncle William H. Howell who married Julie Smith (his father's brother)..... Bennie, are you related to the Denton's of Perry County? 3. Hello, Is this Fanny Howell the daughter of Henry Howell and Nancy Steele? Do you have her death date? Also do you have any information on her children, especially Susan Alice Conway? I don't recognize the name Lanny. Could you help me with where that person fits? Thanks.
