This will give you the details on how to sign up. However, some older computers lack enough power to read these images. Linda

    3. Diane, For some reason, when I try to save the census page as a favorite, the link will not work. I will tell you how I found the pages. I went to this website: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ussearch.htm In the search box I typed: "1840 and Perry and census" I clicked on TN below and then clicked "search". About 45 records came up, but the 1840 Perry Co, TN, census was the 9th one down. If you can figure out how to save it as a favorite, please clue me in. :o) ...and I remember seeing YARBROs! Sandra BTW, I found the 1820 Perry Co, TN, census in the same way. Although, I guess that doesn't matter because that is on the Perry Co, TN, website anyway. >From: "Diane Singleton" <[email protected]> >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: [TNDECATU] Perry Co. 3. Rex, I think it must be more than coincidence that my father, Howard Leonard "Linnie" Allen was born (1903) in Henderson Co., and that my great-grandfather's youngest daughter's name was Nancy. She was born in 1859 and married Mitchell Roger "Mitch" Gibson, son of Amanda Tracy Gibson of Perry Co. I have to assume that these names Howard and Nancy reflect back on older relations. Your Allens predate the arrival of my direct ancestor, Richard P. Allen, b. TN 1815, to the area (around 1850), but might somehow explain why he showed up in this particular area, if he had relations already established there. I suspect that there must be some connection here, but I am not yet able to prove it. Please keep in touch. 1. [TNDECATU] 1820 & 1830 Perry Co, Census online
    2. Sandra Lee
    3. Hi All, First, I wanted to thank you all for trying to help me solve my 1835 Perry Co, TN, land grant mystery involving Drury SAVAGE. Secondly, I think I've solved the mystery and made some breakthroughs partly because I discovered the 1820 & 1840 Perry Co, TN, census online. I didn't realize they were online and had searched for a link to them on the Perry Co, TN, website but did not find them. This is really a discovery for me because my lines were in Decatur Co in 1850 & 1860 so evidently, they probably lived in the part of Perry Co that later became Decatur Co. After viewing the census, I discovered that my Newton MAYO b abt 1805, was actually enumerated as Newton MAYS in 1830 & N G MAS in the 1840 census. So, if there are any MAYS researchers out there, it is possible that your line is connected to the MAYO line. Thirdly, I also discovered that my Drury SAVAGE b 1785, was most likely enumerated with his probable son, William SAVAGE, who is in the 1840 Perry Co, TN, census! I am so excited, I can't contain myself! :o) I just wanted you all to know about the census records in case you aren't aware of it! 2. Sandra Lee
    3. Can someone please tell me something about land grants? Does anyone know how long it took before someone took possession of the land? I have a copy of a Perry Co land grant dated Jan 1835 to a Drury SAVAGE. I think it was in the part of Perry Co that later became Decatur Co because he shows up in the 1850 Decatur Co, TN, census. However, there are no SAVAGEs in the 1840 Perry Co, TN, census, so it is a mystery to me where he is. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help.
