Rachel was listed as head of family on 1820 census in Hickman Co., TN.(Not clear what happen to Dr. Benjamin Baker he went back to NY to settle some family issues and never was heard from again) According to Godspeed's - Rachel was born in Chatham county, North Carolina. Her parents were Scott and Irish and originally from Virginia. She was a Free Will Baptist. She died at age 75. Her stone reads: Rachel, 9/1/1782-12/28/1857, "Wife of B. G. Baker, Sr." (broken, fallen) She is buried at the Baker Cemetery in Decatur County. Baker reunion held at the Cemetery every 2nd Sunday of October. Lots of relatives attend. George Washington Baker was my Grandfather's (Elmer Sylvester (Hoss) Baker) father. My Mother is Joyce Pauline (Baker) (Baker) Corizine Linda (Baker) Mangrum

The house that I have a picture of was built by Benjamin Baker, Jr., it was located on property Baker place in Decatur County. The Baker cemetery is on this property and all that we have left. We meet there every 2nd weekend of October on Sunday for a Baker Reunion. Dr. Benjamin Baker senior, was born 1785 in New York City of German descent, and died in 1820 or 1822, you can see why the date is unclear when you read the notes. he married Rachel Harriet Petty Fields in 1810 (her 2nd marriage) Ist marriage to Denson Fields and 3rd to a Malugin He had 4 children by Rachel (if there was more children they are not listed) Winnie E. Elizabeth Benjamin Greenberry, Jr. William Homer "Buck" This is my line Benjamin G. Baker , Jr., 1818 in Hickman Co. d. 1902 Decatur Co..... My Aunt Linnie Fay Baker passed this January 21st, 2001 She was a great source of information and I have written a lot of notes she gave , just got to pull it all together. There are a lot of other Maness that descended from Scotts Hill area. Jacob, the first recorded one I have, married Hulda Austin. They had 9 children: Lucinda, b. 1839; Matilda Jane, b. 1840. m. Charles Duck, d. 1922; Pleasant Allen, b. 1842, d. 1918'; Matilda Ann,b. 1845,d. 1913; Minerva Abigail, 1847-1902; m. a Preslar; Lucy, 1850-1938, m. Elias Deaton Duck; William , 1852-1930; Cynthia, 1857-1925, m. Benjamin Dyer. some of the children of these 9 died as late as the 1960's. This is all information from the book by Gordon H. Turner.
