    1. [TNDAVIDS] Guardianship Records in 1840-1850s?
    2. Dibrellion via
    3. Hi Folks, I found a 1850's record online at Familysearch.org where the guardian signed for a minor daughter when the father died and the daughter was a distributee of her father's estate. The guardian signed a receipt that he had received the distribution, $26, that the girl was entitled to. I could not find any guardianship records listed at the TSLA website. Are they included with another type of record? I suppose one could just keep searching back in the Tennessee - Davidson County Wills on the Familysearch site to the death of a parent where there is an estate settlement and a guardian would sign any necessary papers for a minor child. I would think that there would be court records that show that the court appointed a guardian for a minor child upon the death of the father or mother. I figured that the guardianship record would give info on the death of the parent and perhaps if the guardian was related. Did the county keep guardianship records? If so, where can one find them? Thanks for any help you can provide, Valerie Gibbs

    3. Yes, They are online for some counties at FamilySearch. TSLA has microfilm inventories for every county. It tells you what records are available. -----Original Message----- From: tndavids-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:tndavids-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Dibrellion via Sent: Thursday, January 29, 2015 4:35 PM To: TNdavids@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNDAVIDS] Guardianship Records in 1840-1850s? 3. I no longer work for Metro Nashville Archives and I don't have access to Davidson County records. There are some guardianship records, but I am not sure what years the records cover. Contact Metro Nashville Archives at 615-862-5880 for information. As guardianship records are county rather than state records you may be able to find something through Metro Nashville Archives. They indexes for many Davidson County records that are easily searched.
