There was a Confederate Brigadier General who was struck on the head at Shy's Hill in December 1864, during the Battle of Nashville, by a Federal officer. I think his name was Benson Smith, and he may be buried at Mt. Olivet. He was in and out of Central State Hospital roughly about the same time my great-grandfather James Lawson Steele was there. They may have known each other. Hard to say though. James Steele died 1919, and I THINK General Smith died about 1924.
