Debie Cox may be able to find this record. The 1810 reconstructed TN census lists Andrew Steele as being a legatee to the estate of Vincent Compton. I would like to get hold of a transcript of that record. Two of Andrew's sons married Compton girls. Alexander Steele married Lucy Compton in Wilson County in 1807 and his brother John married Lucy Compton about 1810 in Wilson County. Andrew Steele was at one time in Davidson County with his inlaws, Archibald and Agnes (Bowen) McFerrin Buchanan, before moving to Sumner, then Wilson County, and finally to White County. I've never been able to figure out who the parents of these Compton girls were. Possibly Vincent Compton was their father? I find no info on any William Compton.  There was also a Henry Compton in Davidson County who may or may not be related to these Wilson County Comptons. Thanks, Will Smith
