    3. Hello Marla, Here is some info on getting records from the National Archives. You can order request forms on the Internet from the National Archives for free on the items they will look up (census records, veterans records, etc.). You can get a NATF Form 80 for veterans records. There is three different files they will search on this form on your veteran- Pension Records, Bounty- Land Warrant Applications, and Military Service Records. You have to send a separate form for each file checked. They will bill you or you can use a credit card for the search and copies. The fee for this is $10.00. If they do not find anything then there is no charge. It takes roughly 4-6 weeks to get the copies. I have never looked up veterans from the War of 1812, but have got them to search on Confederate Veterans. They have sent copies of some good info, muster rolls, pay vouchers, capture papers, hospital records and etc. I highly recommend this service, it has helped me a lot since I live so far from a National Archive.
