    3. Christopher Stump is undoubtedly the son of Frederick Stump, one of the original founders and settlers of Fort Nashborough in 1780. Frederick Stump was of German descent, originally lived in Pennsylvania in the 1760s, migrated to Georgia around the start of the Revolution where he commanded a small company under Marion (See Seedtime on the Cumberland by Harriette Arnow). He later migrated overland in the winter of 1779 through Kentucky with a party of settlers to establish what is now Nashville, TN and settled at Heatons Station. He was granted 640 acres of land for this service on White's Creek Pike. My ancestor lived adjacent to Stump for over 15 years between 1780 and 1795.
