Thomas T. Nicholas was born in Nashville, TN according to his death certificate. His Civil War pension records state that he was married to Glaphrey Buck and with his list of children it appears that James was their child. According to his probate records his daughter Glaphrey was deceased and Joshua's whereabouts were unknown. The census state that his father was born in PA and his mother was born in Wales.
