Hello, I copied this account of a death from the Knoxville Gazette printed in September, 1792. I wonder if anyone could tell me where "Estanaula" might be and which Mr. Ramsey is referred to in this article? "On the 24th ult. the Creeks killed and scalped Mr. Ramsey, an old resident among the Cherokees, and a person newly arrived from Charleston, at the Beloved Town of Estanaula (among the Cherokees) in open day, declaring it was their orders and determination to kill the Virginians wherever they found them, (for thus they call the citizens of the United States)" I am researching the Thomas Ramsey family from southwestern Virginia. (Thomas son of Josiah Ramsey of Botetourt, Washington, Montgomery, later Wythe county VA.) Any clues or thoughts would be appreciated. Rose Jefrobo@aol.com
