I have just this moment subscribed to the Davidson County list and need to pick someone's brain that is familiar with this area. This morning I found out I will be in Nashville tomorrow and have one day to do some research. (I know it's Saturday! I hope something is open!) I am looking for records from 1845 and before. Can anyone tell me where would be the best place to start? I am looking for information about two families. The first is Ben and an unknown wife Cummings. Ben was born about 1790-1800 and had at least one child, Capt. Vincent Monroe Cummings. The second family is that of Jacob & Henrietta Webb Mooney, both born about 1798 in NC. Their children were James, Caroline, Ruben, David, Sally, Henrietta, B.W., Rebecca, John, Sarah, and Rhoda, all born in TN. These two families had moved to MO by the end of 1845 when their children Vincent Cummings and Henrietta Mooney married, shortly after the Mooney's arrived I believe. Both Vincent and Henrietta are suppose to have been born in Nashville. Any suggestions that will help me make good use of my time in Nashville would be greatly appreciate. Charlene

Not sure if the archives are open on Saturday ... but the Main Nashville Public Library is. They have an extensive genealogy section (upstairs). It is located at 615 Church Street and their hours tomorrow are 9a - 5p.
