    1. [TNDAVIDS] Rachel & Andrew Jackson's Resting Place
    2. jj
    3. Rachel Jackson, wife of Andrew Jackson (soon-to-be president) died on this day (December 22) in 1828 at her home, the Hermitage, near Nashville. On the 78th anniversary of her death, I am contributing this deed transcription to the list. It is the deed in trust by the widower Andrew for the small family burial ground that was established in the Hermitage's garden. Andrew Jackson had a tomb erected over Rachel's remains and made plans to be interred next to her. He died in 1845 at the Hermitage and was buried two days later in the garden near his beloved wife. My husband and I visited this site during our visit to the Nashville area several years ago and we hope to return.
