A few years ago I wrote an article - African-American Public Schools in Nashville and Davidson County - for Delores Black Kennedy for her publication Nashville Black Yellow Pages. Nashville Black Yellow Pages is a directory of Nashville area African-American owned businesses. Ms. Kennedy often includes articles of a historical nature in the yearly issue. I just found the article and Flat Rock School is listed. I believe my source would have been a 1920 report on Davidson County Schools. The report does not usually give the exact address of the school just a general location. I will check next week to see if I can find a location. Gene do you have a source for "northwest corner of Joyner Ave and Foster Avenue?" That is so exact that I would bet Gene is correct. I can't post the article because it appeared in a copyrighted publication but I will be happy to check the list for a specific school.
