    1. [TNDAVIDS] Davidson county published histories
    2. [email protected] writes: I've just finished reading Perilous Journey by Peyton Cockrill Lewis. It's about the founding of Nashville, Tennessee: 1780 -81. I recommend it for a good read. While it is a good read, remember that it is historical fiction. Dr. Alfred Leland Crabb wrote a series of historical fiction about Nashville, many years ago. Journey to Nashville, Breakfast at the Hermitage, Dinner at Belmont and Supper at the Maxwell House are the titles. These are old books and they may be hard to find, but are very enjoyable. Dr. Crabb also wrote a factual history of Nashville, Personality of a City. For historical purposes I would recommend: History of Davidson, County, Tennessee, with Illustrations and Biographical Sketches of its Prominent Men and Pioneers by W. W. Clayton. History of Nashville, Tennessee by J. Woolridge. Seedtime on the Cumberland and Flowering of the Cumberland by Harriet Simpson Arnow. History of Middle Tennessee by A. W. Putnam Nashville: A Face of Two Centuries by John Egerton and these Davidson Co., community histories: Donelson, Tennessee: Its History and Landmarks, Aiken Northwest Davidson County: The Land--Its People, Graves North Nashville and Germantown, Connelly West Nashville, Its People and Environs, Kelley Madison Station, Bockmon With Good Will and Affection - For Antioch, Marshall You can find others listed here: _http://state.tn.us/tsla/history/county/factdavidson.htm_ (http://state.tn.us/tsla/history/county/factdavidson.htm) and here _http://pages.prodigy.net/nhn.slate/_ (http://pages.prodigy.net/nhn.slate/) Click the Books: links.
