    2. Does anyone have any ideal how to search for a marriage record when you do not have the brides name or even a date of wedding? My great-grandfather Mahlon Jones was from Nashville Tn. He married twice. His second marriage I have info on. But per the marriage application he had been married once before. I feel like I am looking for a needle in a haystack. Also trying to find gravesite. I know he was alive in 1893 and deceased by the first part of 1900. Any suggestions? Thanks Sharon

    3. I know of 2 online sources and 1 book source for Davidson Co. Marriages. As you can see below, there is no source, that I know of, that covers the years 1848 - 1863 for Davidson Co. Marriages. Does anyone else know of an online source for the "missing" years? ------------------------------------------------- >From the book, "Marriages of Davidson Co TN, 1789-1847", by Edythe Rucker Whitley: Malon L. Jones married Elizabeth Nelms Aug 7, 1838. Marriage performed by Thos. Stringfield. Is this the one you are looking for? --------------------------------------------------- ONLINE DAVIDSON CO TN MARRIAGES: 1. The Metro Archives of Nashville and Davidson Co. has Davidson Co Marriages for the years 1788 - 1831, found at: http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~nashvillearchives/marriage.html 2. The Nashville Public Library has some Davidson Co. TN Marriages online at the following link. They only have the years 1864 - 1905. http://www.library.nashville.org/localhistory/his_lochisindexes.asp#marriages Kathleen in CA ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2007 6:13 PM Subject: [TNDAVIDS] Mahlon Jones > Does anyone have any ideal how to search for a marriage record when you do > not have the brides name or even a date of wedding? > My great-grandfather Mahlon Jones was from Nashville Tn. 3. Do you know if he lived in the same area all his life? If so, he might have married at the same church. With a surname like Jones, it would be a long hard search through the church's records, but might be worth the while. If it was a big church, the LDS might have filmed the records and might have them indexed. The only other way is to guess a time frame, a county you are sure of, and spend a lot of time going through all the entries, or paying a genealogist. Happy Hunting !! Cece--ps--try to get his death certificate. They usually have the funeral home on them, and then the funeral home has info on the burial site. Even though you have a common surname, you have an unusual first name. Maybe the county records have all death names indexed, and you can look from 1895 to 1900. I hate to say this but I get a lot of help from calling the various records depts. and ask for help. After I explain my problem, so many people are willing to help. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2007 9:13 PM Subject: [TNDAVIDS] Mahlon Jones > Does anyone have any ideal how to search for a marriage record when you do > not have the brides name or even a date of wedding? > My great-grandfather Mahlon Jones was from Nashville Tn. You didn't put his second wife's name to know if this was his first or second wife. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2007 8:13 PM Subject: [TNDAVIDS] Mahlon Jones > Does anyone have any ideal how to search for a marriage record when you do > not have the brides name or even a date of wedding? > My great-grandfather Mahlon Jones was from Nashville Tn.
