    3. Hello. I am still searching for Robert. B. Corbett. He was b. abt. 1866 in Nashville, Tn. Davidson County. He married Adah Louella Rogers b. abt. 1876 in Blueball, Ohio. No marriage place or date. Three children Frederick Bayliss Corbett b. 1901 Brooklyn, NY and Murial L. Corbett b. abt. 1903 in Brooklyn, NY. Elizabeth A. Corbett b. abt. 1906 in New Jersey. No county or city known at this time. By 1920 Adah and children were back in NY w/o Robert. If anyone can help me find information on where Robert ended up I would be most grateful. If you have information on him or can get some on him in Tennessee that would also help me. I have no other information on him. I don't know his parents name either. Thank you in advance, Barbara

    1. Drakes in Davidson Co
    2. I'm working to identifying all of the early Drakes in Davidson Co. From the will of John Drake (1835) and B.W. Drake (1841), I've determined that John Drake is the father of Blount W. Drake and also that John had another son named John Drake who had two sons, Alfred Drake and John Drake. The elder John Drake married Elizabeth Rounsevall. John was born about 1761. Blount W. Drake's grave was found on a private Drake family cemetery that I visited this sumner at the former lands on which my father and generations of Drakes before him lived in Jordonia area of Nashville. Thus, his line is probably related to mine. I think John Drake (b. 1761) was a son of Benjamin Drake, Sr who signed the Cumberland Compact in 1778 and from whom I descend thru his son Benjamin, Jr. I'd like to connect with anyone researching any of these lines mentioned and also the Rousevall surname.

    1. Re: McCollum Ancestors
    2. In the "History of Davidson Co, Tenn 1780 - 1880" by Prof. W. Clayton (1971) which I found in the book stacks at Tenn Archives in Nashville, I found the following: pg. 89 first justices by year commissioned included in 1813 Levi McCollum, and others. Maybe he is related to your McCollums. On a personal note, my g-grandfather, Levi McCollum Craft, was born in 1849 and died in 1929. I always wondered for whom he was named and I saw the above mention of a man named Levi McCollum. Its possible he was a neighbor of my Crafts and they named a son after him. I may find out one day!

    3. While driving around this weekend I came across a small private graveyard. I transcribed the following in hopes that someone will recognize these names: Gleaves Graveyard Hermitage, TN (Davidson County) Single Headstones with two names: Bettie A. Gleaves 5/5/1885 - 7/8/1936 Thomas B. Gleaves 3/9/1885 - 5/27/1972 Thomas H. Gleaves 4/26/1831 - 9/29/1910 Mary J. Gleaves 3/4/1830 - 12/4/1904 Single headstones: Nora Dowell Gleaves 7/14/1874 - 1/24/1951 Mary J. Gleaves (older than above stone) 3/4/1830 - 12/4/1904 "Mary hath chosen the good part which shall not be taken away from her." Richard Franklin Gleaves Son of John G. and Elizabeth W. Gleaves Infant son of John G. and Elizabeth Gleaves 12/26/1834 - 5/29/1836 J. Harry Gleaves 8/20/1874 - 9/14/1893(8?) Dan Clark Gleaves 6/13/1937 - 6/24/1995 Small headstones with no dates: Harry Gleaves Annie Gleaves Jno. B. Gleaves Other names: J. R. Wilson 3/5/1842 - 6/10/1906 "Beloved by his wife" Maurice Turner Yelton 12/9/1905 - 8/1/1907 Annie Yelton (no dates) J. G. Yelton (no dates) Maurice Yelton (no dates) Many of the headstones were sunk too far into the ground to read; two or three of the larger ones had been overturned though apparently not by vandals. The graveyard itself was overgrown but obviously protected from construction going on nearby. The newest grave had semi-fresh flowers so it is not being completely neglected though it appears it isn't visited often. Hope somebody finds some value in this! James Randolph Robertson, "Father of Tennessee", is one of those benchmark personalities from whom relationship is specified, known or conjectured. He is such a well-known personality that I expected to find a webpage in his honor. There was none. So I have begun one. You will find it at http://www.shelby.net/jr/robertsn/genjames.htm This page contains everything I have been able to find on the Internet relating to Gen. James Randolph Robertson. It includes ref's to those with whom he was associated. It contains a number of historical pages regarding his considerable contributions. You will find listings of his descendents, or gedcoms of same. There are traditional versions of his ancestry as well as new findings that provide documentations for significant revisions to his lineage. There are at least 3 different versions of his ancestry. It is not the function of this page to declare winners; it *is* its purpose to let you know what variations exist and to encourage collaboration. Divergent viewpoints are welcome. Links backward from this page lead to copious ROBERTSON material. Suggestions for additional links for this page are appreciated. Links to this page are also helpful. 1. Owen LANE, MD>NC>Davidson Co, TN
    2. I am interested in finding information about Owen LANE who is found on the 1820 Davidson Co, TN census. Did he have children, Nancy Ann, b ca 1801, Denny, and Thomas? The Owen LANE on the 1820 Davidson Co, TN census was over 45 years of age. He had two sons 16-26, a daughter 10-16, a daughter 16-26, and a wifer over 45. The daughter 16-26 could very well be my Nancy Ann Lane, b ca 1801 who married Alfred OZMENT in Davidson Co, TN on 18 Apr 1823. A Denne Lane married Susannah McFaddin 1 March 1821 in Davidson. A Thomas Lane married Rebecca McFaddin on 24 June 1819 in Davidson. Also on the 1820 census is a Thomas LAIR or LAIN, age 26-45. Another interesting note about Owen LANE. His revolutionary pension was applied for 17 Oct 1832 in Davidson Co, TN. He was aged 77 then, stated he was born in Caroline Co, MD, lived there and enlisted there and was one the Maryland line. Afterwards he moved to Guilford Co, NC and then moved to Davidson Co, TN. This is the same migration for my Ozment family! They went from somewhere in Maryland to Guilford Co, NC and then to Davidson Co, TN and then on to Wilson Co, TN! Eleanor Colson EleanorCol@aol.com Katy, Texas

    3. Would anyone have any information on the family of the THOMAS DENTON, who was a signer of the Cumberland Compact in 1780? I am looking for the family of a JAMES DENTON, b. 1806, in Tennessee. He was in Williamson County in 1860 census, but I can find no other records on him. I was wondering if there is a possibility if he was connected to Thomas Denton. Thanks, Dave Masters dmasters@mastnet.net

    1. Marriage lookup
    2. I have copies of Davidson Co marriage index from the earliest years on up to 1903. (Drake surname only copied). My gr-grandfather, John Warfield Drake, buried his first wife in 1912 after she died "after being struck by a steam locomotive" in Nashville. He married sometime after that to Hattie Heim with whom he spent his remaining years. I am looking for the marriage date of that second marriage. If anyone has access to the marriage index for the years 1912 to about 1920, I would greatly appreciate this lookup. thanks1

I have noted that the Drakes intermarried with the Hydes several times and am looking for any Hyde family researchers with whom to compare notes. Also, my Benjamin Drake, Jr. married a Susannah Ramsey with whom I have not connected to her parents at this date. Benjamin, son of the earlier Benjamin above, lived from 1758 - 1831, filing his will in Davidson co in 1831. Looking for any Ramsey researchers with whom to compare notes.
