Hi Davidson & Sumner Co. Listers! A recent offer for marriage lookups on the Davidson County list has prompted me to post this notice. On the Sumner County and Cheatham County Gen Web sites are great marriage information. With the close proximity of these three counties to each other, it is a good idea to check several county sources when hunting down ancestors. The Sumner County site also lists bondsmen, which is where I found my Davidson County ancestor's name. The Davidson County site has a searchable index of marriages 1864-1905. Also at the Davidson County's "Index Search-Selected Davidson County Records" link: free lookups of County Death Records (1900-1913), Marriages (1790-1863) and Will Books (1784-1902). This site is hosted by the Friends of Metropolitan Archives of Nashville & Davidson County. Happy Hunting! The original marriage bonds and licenses are on file at Metro Archives of Nashville and Davidson Co. TN., as are the first two marriage registers. I have in my research library the "Marriages of Davidson County, Tennessee, 1789-1847" by Edythe Rucher Whitley, Copyright, 1981. I will be glad to check this book for listings if anyone has a question. According to Ms. Whitley, all of the early Davidson County marriage bonds and licenses were destroyed by fire, but the first two volumes of marriage registers, compiled from the original bonds and marriages are intact, although both are fragile and worn with age. Am looking for information on the parents of Elijah Reed, who was born in 1809 and died in 1885. Elijah married Jeston Ketchum and they had 11 children. It has been suggested that David Reed 1780 -1842 is the father of Elijah, but have no proof. David Reed and his wife Elizabeth ? had two sons, Charles and Michael. David & Elizabeth migrated from South Carolina in the early 1800s to Limestone Co., Alabama. David Reed & Elijah Reed bought adjoining land in Tippah County. In 1840 David and Elizabeth Reed deeded their land to "my sons, Michael & Charles Reed" and they were to take care of them. Charles died by June 1843 and his part sold to H. Bowers and later to James Ellis and in 1858 Elijah Reed bought it. The same year Elijah bought from Michael Reed the other portion of land that had belonged to David Reed. If anyone can help me with this puzzle I would appreciate it. Nell

I am seeking for information on a Mary TODD who married Henry (?) BROTHERS. Sometime in the early 19th century. They had a daughter name Jenny Lind BROTHERS who later move here to MI in her adult Life. Mary TODD came from a nice size family and she had a brother name William TODD who was my maternal g-grandfather. Is it true that President Andrew Jackson lived somewhere there in or near Davidson Cty., and what tribe of indians resided in that county. Family history has it that Mr. BROTHERS taught at FISK University. It is the big african American college in nashville but that college is not able to help me without an exact year. I don't know when that college was started but I would appreciated any help someone could assist me with. Thank You. Pamela Lee in Michigan plee@usxchange.com

The Journal of the AMA has an obituary for him in Volume 66, page 1792. I do not have access to these journals. Can anyone suggest a way I can get a copy of this obituary? Thanks Floreda
