    3. Shelley, Not my family, but just wanted to thank you for your effort to locate someone related. Good job! Gary Willis ________________________________ From: Shelley Cardiel <cardiels@comcast.net> To: TNDAVIDS@rootsweb.com Sent: Sun, December 19, 2010 2:26:44 AM Subject: [TNDAVIDS] WILLIAMS Family Photograph I've "rescued" an old photograph of Mr. W. R. WILLIAMS and Mrs. Amy WILLIAMS which was taken at the Jno A. Young Studio in La Cygne or Pleasanton, Kansas. The photograph is dated Winter of 1887 with couple appearing to be in their 30's or 40's at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to their names and the date, someone has also written "J. S. KEENEY, Pullman, WA" along with instructions for an additional photograph of Mrs. WILLIAMS including a drawing of her dress. In addition to this photograph I also have a series of four additional photographs belonging to the KEENEY Family who I believe are connected through Mrs. WILLIAMS and her daughter Estella from a first marriage. Based on limited information I was able to locate the following information regarding the couple: William Riley WILLIAMS was b. 4 Jun 1835 in Franklin Co. William was one of 12 children born to this couple including, Elizabeth A.; William Riley; Mariam; Thomas Marion; Zebedee Brandon; Sarah Jane; Augustus M.; John J.; Harriet Sophie; Samantha Leona; Elvira N.; and Mary A. Amy FAIRCHILD was the daughter of Roswell FAIRCHILD (b. 1 Jan 1811 in NY) and Maria DeWitt WINFIELD (b. 22 Mar 1818 in Ulster Co. NY). Amy's first marriage was to J. W. MORRISON in 1871 in Linn Co. 2. Yes, this line of Perry's is what they call "The Seven Brothers" and descends from a Phillip Perry who married a Hunter lady. Most of these names sounds like it descends from Francis Perry. He was married to a Mabel unknown in North Carolina. 1. Re: [TNDAVIDS] More Perry Info in TN and NC
    2. I only know the Cushenberry's in Allen Co., KY were Baptists. There are no Perry's in Allen Co., Ky in 1819 when my Aaron Perry was born. I first find him in the 1850 Allen Co., Ky census. He and Rebecca must have married before 1843 as their first son was born then. His name was James W. but he died when he was 12 years old and the other two children were my Rebecca Cushenberry whose father is James Cushenberry and another daughter Jane that married a Henson. So, that leaves me with the Walker Line conflict between Ky and Tn. I have some deeds of my Aaron Perry on Baysfork Creek and Drakes Creek in Allen Co., Ky. In 1850 Aaron is living between a Read family and A.C. Atwood. I cannot find my Aaron Perry in the 1840 census when he would have been of age. Maybe he was still living with his parents of whom his father was from North Carolina and his mother from Virginia according to the 1880 Allen Co., Ky census. 2. The group of Perry's I named, Aaron, Burwell and Sion Perry are from the Perry's that some say started in Nansemond Co. Va and went to Bute, Franklin and Wake counties and others in North Carolina before moving on to other states. There is a writeup of The Seven Brothers but it contains a lot of errors in it. It starts with a Phillip Perry that married a Hunter woman. I think your wife must descend from that Perry family according to your description. 2. Wolfman Jack
    3. Debie Cox may be able to find this record. The 1810 reconstructed TN census lists Andrew Steele as being a legatee to the estate of Vincent Compton. I would like to get hold of a transcript of that record. Two of Andrew's sons married Compton girls. Alexander Steele married Lucy Compton in Wilson County in 1807 and his brother John married Lucy Compton about 1810 in Wilson County. Andrew Steele was at one time in Davidson County with his inlaws, Archibald and Agnes (Bowen) McFerrin Buchanan, before moving to Sumner, then Wilson County, and finally to White County. I've never been able to figure out who the parents of these Compton girls were. Possibly Vincent Compton was their father? I find no info on any William Compton.  There was also a Henry Compton in Davidson County who may or may not be related to these Wilson County Comptons. Thanks, Will Smith

    1. [TNDAVIDS] Aaron, Burwell and Sion Perry in Tennessee
    2. As I have posted before my 4th great grandfather is Aaron Perry ( ca 1819-1885). He was born in Kentucky according to the census. He died 1885 in Allen County, Ky. His wife is Rebecca Cushenberry. I am trying to determine who is Aaron Perry's parents. This is the important part. In the 1880 Allen Co., Ky census Aaron states his father was from North Carolina and his mother from Virginia. There are no other Perry's in Allen Co., Ky. Because of the Ky/Tn state line dispute over where the state line should be Allen County, Ky was in Tn also. Families were in both Allen Co., Ky and Sumner Co. TN. About the time my Aaron was born ca 1819 the state line was settled shortly after. In the early Tennessee records there is a earlier Aaron Perry in Davidson co., TN where Nashville, Tn is. He and a Sion Perry and a Burwell Perry were in Sumner Co. Tn which Wilson County was formed from and Davidson was one of the first counties. Aaron, Burwell and Sion Perry were in these TN counties from 1793 to 1799. After that they must have moved. So, my question is who out of this Aaron, Burwell and Sion Perry would be born in North Carolina with a wife born in Virginia. ?? If I could prove this it might prove which one is my Aaron Perry's parents in Allen County, Ky across the state line from Tennessee. Any info would be appreciated. Marianne Dillow Illinois

Sion Perry was in Sumner Co., Tn as early as 1793 and then the earlier Aaron Perry and there was also a Burwell Perry that was in TN. These were all in Tn in the mid to late 1790's and they must have moved from there. Of course county formations happened and Allen Co., Ky is right across the state line from Sumner County, Tn. 3. Yes, Allen county was formed out of Warren County about 1815 or so. Some of my Fosters were in Sumner County and Allen County as well. Thomas Grisham married Lucy Foster in Warren County in 1810, and his brother John Grisham married a daughter of Richard Bailey about 1808 or so. Forget exactly. Then they went down to Giles and Lawrence Counties, TN before winding up in Tishomingo County, MS by 1850. --- On Tue, 11/30/10, marlowest155@frontier.com <marlowest155@frontier.com> wrote: From: marlowest155@frontier.com <marlowest155@frontier.com> Subject: Re: [TNDAVIDS] Aaron Perry and Rigsby Family In Tn and Ky To: tndavids@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, November 30, 2010, 11:48 AM I have seen on the internet the Rigsby's came from SC but also Wake Co., NC too.  I don't know which is right but the Perry's came from Wake County on to Franklin Co., NC before they spread out. 3. There are a LOT of Perry's and Rigsby's down here in Coffee County around Manchester. Wonder if they're kin to y'all? If they were in White and DeKalb counties earlier, they most likely are.  I know my Grishams and Fosters were in that part of Allen County, KY that had been Warren County previously, but they went further Southwest into Giles and Lawrence Counties, TN.  My Rice, Howell, Judd, LaFever, Steele, Burton, Bozarth, Williams, Hargett, etc.. families were centered in White, DeKalb and Putnam Counties. I appreciate your answer. I am working backwards. This early Aaron Perry has others in his family by the given names of Sion Perry, Burwell Perry, etc.  I believe this family was originally in Wake and Franklin counties in North Carolina. The Rigsby children to my Aaron Perry died 1885 in Allen Co., Ky is a clue for further research.
