I am trying to find out what happened to Jeremiah Bates, who was last seen in 1860 in the 3rd Civil District with his parents Jasper M. and Mary A. Bates. I cannot find any of them in the 1870 census. The next time they show up is in the 1880 census in AR, without Jeremiah. The family bible does not mention his death, but does mention the death of two children in 1863 and 1871 respectively. So what happened to Jeremiah, and where are Jasper and Mary in 1870? Lee Anne
