    1. [TNCOFFEE] Ragsdale, Howard, Harp
    2. I am helping a friend on her genealogy. Her ancestor is Mary Howard (b. 1875) who was listed as a niece of John Gunn and his wife Serena Howard in the 1880 census of Coffee County. Also listed as a niece in that household was Ann Howard (b. 1857). In the 1870 census Elizabeth Howard (b. 1857) is with John and Serena Gunn. I think Ann and Elizabeth are the same person, but I cannot find her in the 1860 census, when she would have been three years old. This family is connected to the family of Claiborne Harp who died in 1846 leaving a wife Celia Harp, son Alexander Harp and daughter Nancy Harp who apparently married William Howard. It appears that William Howard might be the brother of Serena Howard, above, and perhaps Riley Howard who married Mary H. (Boren?) is also their brother. It appears that William, Serena and Riley are the children of John and Celia Howard. John Howard and Claiborne Harp are near neighbors in the 1830 census of Warren County, probably in a part that became Coffee County in 1836. There is some connection to F. H. Ragsdale who lived with Celia Harp one census year and with Celia Howard in another census. Any information on these families will be much appreciated-- Carolyn Smotherman
