Hi KC! While I can't answer your query directly, I find it intriguing. My Roberts line is traceable back to my great-great-great-grandfather, James Bradford Roberts, born 16 Jun 1814 probably in the area that later became Grundy County, Tennessee. Grundy County wasn't formed from Coffee County until 1844. According to family legend, James had two half-brothers, Jake and Phillip, but I've never been able to identify them. James got married about 1831 to Sarah Harrison, born 15 Jan 1816, either in the same area or possibly in northern Alabama. Sarah was reputed by family legend to be a first cousin of President William Henry Harrison, but I'm not convinced that is accurate given the difference in their birth dates. WHH was born in 1773; Sarah was born 43 years later. James and Sarah raised their family in Coffee (later Grundy) County having twelve children. In 1860, James, Sarah and their brood of children and grandchildren moved to Wright County in south central Missouri. However, in the overheated politics of the time just prior to the WBTS, they didn't get along with their new neighbors, and within a few months moved again to Fulton County, Arkansas. They settled near the tiny community of Wheeling about five miles south of Salem, the county seat, where they remained the rest of their lives. Among their children were William S. Roberts, born about 1839, and Allen Hanceford Roberts, born in 1845. One of their grandsons was William Hanceford Roberts, born about 1870. The point of all this is that I think it quite likely that your Roberts and mine are related although we certainly don't have enough information to state that at present. I'll be happy to exchange data with you if you think that is any likelihood of a 'match.' I would be especially interested in identifying the parents and other ancestors of James Bradford Roberts or Sarah Harris. -- Robert W. King I'm an ingenieur, NOT a bloody locomotive driver!
