    1. [TNCOFFEE] Re: TNCOFFEE-D Digest V03 #24
    2. Looking for information on William Jasper DeShields who married Elizabeth DeShields in Coffee County in 1830. William and Elizabeth were both born 1808. William was born in South Carolina and Elizabeth probably in Coffee County. Elizabeth was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Williams McBride. William had a brother named Handy DeShields. He was born in 1819 and went to Arkansas in 1835. We believe he came back to Tennessee (Beech Grove Area) and returned to Arkansas on the way to Oregon with his brother William and his other brother John M. William, Handy and John's father was Joel DeShields and his brother was Josiah and sister, Mary. There is a male and female child of Joel still missing. It could have been David or Noah. No information to verify that. Josiah stayed in Tennessee. He lived with Hans Crosslin and also French Rayburn or worked for them. Would like to know if there is a farm diary available for either of these large land owners. Mary and Josiah were members of the Garrison Fork Baptist Church. I have not found where Mary ever married. Joel came from Laurens Co, South Carolina about 1810-1818. Would like to correspond with anyone who might know this family and related families. I have been told Joel had a brother Thomas who married Catherine Bethune and he also had two sisters: Mary who married William Alexander Goggans and Martha who married John P Casey. Would like to hear from any of the related families. Have lots of info to share. after 25 years of research.
