    1. [TNCOFFEE] Thomas Avance Uselton

    3. I am researching this line: GGM Mattie Frances Uselton, b. 1884 in Wartrace, Bedford County , TN; d. 29 Dec 1972 in Shelbyville, Bedford, TN; m Ollie Whitney Haggard 2GGF Thomas Avance Uselton, b. abt 1855 in Coffee County, TN; m. abt 1878 to Sarah Ann Butler; d. Jul 1932 in ,Coffee, TN 3GGF Andrew Jackson Usselton, b. abt 1823 in Bedford (later Coffee) County, TN; m. 5 Sept 1844 to Caroline McMichael; d. aft 1880 4GGF John W. Usselton, b. abt 1790 in Woodford County, KY 5GGF George Usselton, b. 10 August 1762, Shrewsbury Parish, Kent County, Maryland; d. 24 Apr 1839 in Winchester, Franklin, Tennessee I have one "brick wall" and that is finding the death certificate and place of burial for Thomas Avance ("TA") Uselton and the place of burial for his wife Sarah Ann (Butler) Uselton. 1) I have looked at TSLA over a range of years for TA's death certificate and find nothing close. 2) I have a month of death from my GGM's (his daughter's) records, so I suspect it is reasonably accurate. 3) I have found the death certificate of Sarah Ann (Butler) Uselton. The data on it includes: Date of death: 2 April 1935 Father: Calvin Butler; Birthplace: Tenn Mother: Jennie Crosslin; Birthplace: Tenn Marital status: widow Wife of: T. A. Uselton Undertaker: J. E. Justice, Wartrace, Tenn Place of burial: First District, Coffee County, 3 April 1935 It is likely that Sarah Ann and TA are buried in the same location, but I have been unable to locate Sarah Ann's grave. 4) TA may have died out of state. That would explain the lack of a TN death certificate. I have checked TX and AL so far with no luck. There is another TA Uselton who was born in TN about the same time as my TA and who moved to TX and died there about the same time as my TA died. I ordered his death certificate hoping it was my 2GGF, but it wasn't. 5) I can't find TA in Cemetery records of Bedford or Coffee County. GGM Mattie's records say he was buried in "Coffee County" but have no other details. 6) Sarah Ann and TA lived most of their lives near Panhandle Branch (formerly Nawl's Creek) in the 1st CD of Coffee County. I know that TA's mother, Caroline McMichael Uselton, is buried in the McMichael Cemetery in a grave that is today unmarked. 7) I have been unable to locate obituaries for either TA Uselton or Sarah (Butler) Uselton. I would appreciate any assistance from anyone on this list in finding this missing information. This is the last piece if information that I need to do acceptable DAR and SAR applications for descendants in this line based on the ARW service of George Usselton.
