Does anyone have a BATES or DAVIS family bible that lists the marriage for John A. BATES and Elizabeth DAVIS? According to Goodspeed, John and Elizabeth (2nd wife) were married in 1824. John A. BATES was the son of Samuel. John was b. about 1794 in VA (The Old Dominion)]. Elizabeth DAVIS was b. about 1796 in SC. I do not know who her parents were. John A. BATES is in Bedford Co. TN in 1830 and Coffee Co. TN in 1850. Jess Lewis kindly let me know that the part of Bedford Co. John lived in was broken off to form part of Coffee Co.
