Hi Coffee County list, Anybody out there new to the list who are searching for LEMMONS, TODD, GOODEN,HOLT surnames of Coffee Cty ,1850 to 1900? Many Lemmons left in 1899, ended up in Woodville Oklahoma & Bell Cty which is Belton & Temple Texas. I know there must be some who stayed behind. Does anybody live in Coffee Cty who could look in the phone book to see if there are any Goodens or Lemmons presently living there & send me their name & address? I would like to drop them a pedigree chart & letter. Appreciate the help. Can anyone offer lookups for these surnames? Thank you! Vicki Reynolds Houston TX rreynolds@pdq.net
I loved the site, Jess. Gave me a chance to scare the daylights out of the kids. I am usually on the receiving end of their jokes! Shawn Burks

Usually I enjoy these 'lighter' moments on the lists. And, I truly expected something cute like Casper, The Friendly Ghost to pop out. (When you mentioned that it was scary, I presumed you were joking, because of the term 'lighter'.) I feel it important to mention that I was not amused... just frightened! Leslie
Could someone do a look-up for me to see if you could find a marriage for Julia Hill around 1865-1870. She disappears from the household of her father after the 1860 census and before the 1870 census. She does not appear in the Cannon County, Tennessee Marriage Records---1838-1899, compiled by Helen L. Rogers and I thought she might be in Coffee County records. Any information about Julia Hill, born 1850, daughter of William Hill, living in Cannon County in 1860, would be greatly appreciated. Lucy Parker - lparker2098@earthlink.net

Hi, I'm searching for information on Tennessee Green b. 27 Jan 1858 in Coffee Co., TN - daughter of Alexander Mitchell Green and Nancy Catherine "Margaret" Messick. I think that she first married someone named Moore, then an Eli Shelton, then she was my grandfather's (Robert Franklin Driskell) second wife. She died on or about 1 Aug 1930 - I'm not sure WHERE and is suppossedly buried at Tennessee Chapel, Cedar Co., Missouri. I don't know if she had any children by any of her husbands. Any information appreciated. Leda
Does anyone have any information on A.J. and Eliza E. Anderson? The were husband and wife and at least one of their sons was Marion E. Anderson born 1879. I know they showed up in the 1880 census. Is there an 1870 or 1860 census that they might show up in?

Good Afternoon, Can anyone identify the following cemetery? "Hulett Cemetery on Clancy Farm" It is supposed to be located in Coffee County, Tennessee, probably in the tenth district. If identified, does anyone have an index of same? Thanks, John Sissom JDSissom@Netzero.net

Hi Gang, I am trying a new approach: Listing a family in which I am interested, but have done basically no research. I would be interested in discussing the PARKER family who was living in Cannon and Coffee Counties, Tennessee, from about 1837 to 1896 and perhaps beyond. Some names that I am concerned with include: Descendants of Isaiah Parker 1 Isaiah PARKER b: Abt. 1785 .. +Rachael MOORE b: Bef. 1800 ......... 2 Kathanne PARKER b: 1814 d: 28 Oct 1895 ............. +Jesse SISSOM b: Abt. 1817 d: 1854 ......... 2 Adam PARKER b: Abt. 1820 d: 19 Sep 1892 ............. +Catherine ADCOCK b: 1823 d: 28 Oct 1893 ......... 2 John PARKER b: Abt. 1830 ............. +Arsenia BANKS b: 1835 d: 1922 .................... 3 Margaret PARKER b: 1835 d: 1922 ........................ +William J. DUNCAN b: 01 Jan 1857 d: 22 Jun 1930 .................... 3 John M. My great grandfather John Henry Taylor was born July 21, 1866 in Coffee County, Tennessee. He married a Sally McCraw abt 1889. Sally died between 1894 -1895. Can anyone tell me where she is buried? Who her parents were?
>From census data here in TN, we must conclude that Tabitha is, in all likelihood, the sister of Capt. George Howell. John Tolliver/Talliaferro married Tabitha Howell about 1780, probably in Montgomery County, Va or across the river in North Carolina. Their daughter, Nancy B. Tolliver, was born February 9, 1785, and died February 27, 1869 in Warren County, TN. She married Russell Brewer, who's ancestry is as yet unknown, about 1804. Russell was born January 28, 1785 and died September 1, 1858. They're buried at the Jacksboro/Trousdale cemetery in Warren County, not far from the Coffee County line. Their son, Calvin C. Brewer, was born 1828 in Warren County, TN. He was Captain of B. Company, 16th Infantry, C.S.A., and was killed near Viola in Warren County on October 17, 1861. The Coffee County UDC chapter here is the "Capt. Calvin C. Brewer Chapter..." There's a photo of him in the old Coffee County courthouse in Manchester. John Tolliver apparently was in Smith County before 1806, as his name and that of Russell Brewer appear on the petition dated August 6, 1806 to form Warren County. I've not been able to find out where John and Tabitha (Howell) Tolliver are buried, however. I guess they might also be buried at Jacksboro. It would be interesting to find out more info on old John Tolliver back in Virginia!
