    1. [TNCOFFEE] Snipes/Hickerson Marriage in the 1860's/70's
    2. I'm trying to locate the possible marriage of Nancy Snipes to Robert Hickerson in Coffee Co. in either the late 1860's or early-mid 1870's.  Does anyone know of this bond?  If not, would anyone have access to marriage records for that time period in Coffee Co. where they could look that possible marriage up? I'd appreciate anyone's help! Thank you, Lori Houston, TX

    1. [TNCOFFEE] Double Springs Church, east of Murfreesboro?
    2. Greg and Ginger Keeling
    3. This relates to the on-going discussion on the Bedford Co. list... My 3xgreat grandfather, Thomas Keeling, and his wife, Mary E., left Garrison Fork Baptist church by transfer on letter to "Double Springs" church in 1824. In checking around, the only local Double Springs area I've found is the one east of Murfreesboro. Can anyone better inform me about this? Was there a Baptist church in this area of Double Springs, Rutherford Co.? Are there other areas of Middle TN that used to be known as "Double Springs" but are now called something else, where this church might have been? I have used the USGS GNIS site, and have located other places outside of TN that have such names and had churches, but I am not satisfied yet that my 3x great grandfather went out of state to transfer his letter... Thanks, Greg Keeling

    3. Hello, I am a descendant of Willaim Collins from Va. whom married an Edith from N.C., in Coffee Co., Tenn. about 1810. I think they left Tenn. around 1840. I am planning a trip to Manchester on July 7&8 to see if I can find anything. If anyone has any suggestions that could make my trip more likely to succeed, I have my arms open wide. Thank you and may you have a wonderful day. John H Collins

    1. [TNCOFFEE] TRIP TO MANCHESTER
    2. Sondra Taylor
    3. My husband and I are planning a trip to Manchester at the end of June to do research on his grandfather, William James Dursey TAYLOR (his parents are listed on his death certificate as William TAYLOR and Unknown THORP) and his grandmother Emma Lou LANCASTER who were married in Manchester on 25 December 1890. According to Emma LANCASTER's death certificate, she was born in Manchester 12 April 1874 - her parents were listed as John James LANCASTER and Mary Ann HODGES. We will be there for approximately three days (either Friday thru Sunday or Saturday thru Monday). I would appreciate receiving some information on research in that area - courthouse, library, historical society, etc. - their hours and resources available. Thanks in advance, Sondra

    1. [TNCOFFEE] cemetery lookup - Jasper M. Bates and Mary A. (ODLE) Bates
    2. Lee Anne Center
    3. If you have cemetery book for Coffee Co., Bedford Co., or Davidson Co., I would appreciate your looking to see if these folks are in it: Jasper M. Bates (b. 1825, d. 1899) and wife Mary A. ODLE Bates (b. 1825, d. 1900) They were both born in TN. They lived in Bedford Co., Rutherford Co., and Coffee Co. TN. One of their sons was born in Davidson Co. TN. They moved to AR and lived in Jefferson Co. AR. But I cannot find their graves there. The graves may be unmarked, since so many years have passed. But maybe they went to live with one of their children if they became infirm. I do not know where all of their children lived, so I am checking TN places that they lived to see if they might have been buried there. Thanks for any help you can be. Lee Anne

    1. [TNCOFFEE] Coffee County, TN Heritage Book update...we're off and running!
    2. Don & Becky Mills
    3. Just a brief follow-up to our post about the Coffee Co., Heritage book - 2004. We had an enthusiastic group and a 'ton of fun' at our meeting on March 24th. Well attended, with many new faces! We challenged each person to write an article of 500 words and bring a photo to the next meeting. If you are out of driving range, don't despair. We'll have plenty of instructions on line (and even via US postal) for you as time goes on. For now, suffice it to say we are off and running! Tell your friends about the book and the fact that even those with roots in Coffee will be included (those who have never lived in Coffee)! Next meeting; Monday, April 28th, 6:30 PM at Duck River Electric, 209 E. Fort St., Manchester, TN. See you there!
