Hello to the Coffee County List I have not requested information on Littleton T. Meadows of Coffee County. I have searched for over 30 years for the parentage of Littleton Meadows without any success. Littleton lived in the Noah and Beech Grove areas of the county. He was born in TN on 15 June 1818 and died 11 August 1879. He was married first to Elizabeth Rayborn and second to Martha Anderson Cass. Between his two wives, he had 19 children. I have the names of all 19 children, but I cannot find his parents or the place of his birth in Tennessee. Can you help me? Bob Bailey boalb@bellsouth.net
Buddy et-al, Thanks for the report. The SPAM detector at my internet supplier was blocking all my mail from the Cannon & Coffee lists. Not sure why. At any rate, I made a few setting changes & all is coming through OK. The Antarctic trip was postponed for 1 year (Jan & Feb 2005) due to local transportation problems in the Antarctic area. 15 people are going to Peter 1 Island. about 150 miles off the Antarctic coast. I am a Ham Radio operator, and we were going there for about 2 weeks to conduct some radio "tests". Actually it is a hobby. The island is unmanned & under the ice pack for several months per year. Jan & Feb is about the only time you can get close. Due to glaciers on the island and a sheer drop of 100 feet or so at the edge, the only practical way to get ashore is by helicopter. It is of course, a very rare spot on the globe. (and cold) The helo pilot doubled his quote to us at the last minute, and made the total cost of the trip way out of hand. We have found another group that have both their own ship and helo, for next year, at a much more reasonable price. So, every thing went into storage and we are awaiting next season. for more info on the island, here is a link to a group that went there 10 years ago. Be sure to check out both the photo links on the page........ http://ocean.otr.usm.edu/~gejones/3Y0PI.html Jess

I think I've got the settings right now. Thanks for your patience. Jess Lewis
Just as I suspected. The spam filter at my ISP was blocking all posts from these lists. I've made some alterations, so lets see if it's working now. All others please delete, ignore and / or be patient. :^) Jess
Test. haven't heard much (nothing for several days) on these lists, this week. Let's see if they are up & working. Jess
Researchers, My husband's grandmother was Sarah Jane CROWLEY Sides from Limestone County, Alabama. She was married to Ossie Otto Sides in 1919. Sarah Jane was the daughter of William Crowley/Croley and Rosa DAVIS Crowley. They had four children that I am aware of: Sarah Jane CROWLEY Sides; Ida Bell CROWLEY Haggard married to Henry Haggard from Coffee County, TN; John Collins Crowley and Richard Pryor Crowley. Rosa DAVIS died in February of 1941 in Limestone County, Alabama. Rosa was the daughter of Catherine GRAHAM and William Edward N. Davis. William Davis was the son of Gabriel Davis and Mary McLemore from Lauderdale County, Alabama. Rosa and William were married in 1897 in Limestone County, Alabama. I just received a death certificate for a William Crowley/Croley that died in June of 1950 in Limestone County, Alabama. William was a widower, born in March of 1878. The informant for William was John C. Crowley. It states that William was the son of John Crowley. Mom's name is not listed and William was born in Tennessee. I believe that William could possibly be the son of John W. Crowley and Sarah Jane LARGEN. They are the only Crowley family close to Limestone County, AL and/or Lincoln County, TN. I have found a Willie Croley that was in the home of H. Milton Largen in Lincoln County, TN in 1880. John and Sarah Crowley are in 1870 Lincoln County, TN list as John Crawley. There are some children listed. I believe that possibly John and Sarah have passed away by 1880 as I can not find them and their children are placed with the Largen family. John and Sarah were married in Madison County, Alabama in 1860 as was Samuel N. Crowley and Amanda Largen in 1860. John and Samuel are the sons of Henry Crowley and an Elizabeth. I believe Elizabeth's name to possibly be McClusky. I have found on the Madison County, AL website a Henn Croly that was married in 1836 to an Elizabeth McClusky. If you can offer any suggestions to some of my ideas or help support my beliefs or disprove them, please don't hesitate to ask. You can send replies to me at rootsnut@yahoo.com. Sincerely, Carrie S. After several server crashes at Roots Web, during the past month, both the Cannon & Coffee Co. lists seem to be operating normally. All queries have been posted, indexed and are current. Please review the new ones at... http://www.cafes.net/jlewis/coffqry.htm (Coffee Co.) and http://www.cafes.net/jlewis/canqry.htm (Cannon Co.) Sorry that I got behind on the queries, but we sold our place out in the country and moved into the town of Manchester this fall. It has been somewhat of a madhouse getting things sorted out. I'm also going on a trip to Antarctica in January, and the trip planning has added to the chore list. I'll try to do better. Hello to All, I am seeking ANY info on the RUBLEY/RUBLY/RUBLI family of the Coffee/ Franklin/Grundy Co. area. Charles & Elizabeth RUBLEY are believed to have first come to the area ca 1880 from PA where they had immigrated from Switzerland. My grandmother, Lena Rubley, was their dau b ca 1887 in Grundy Co. Lena married Frank SARTAIN in 1906.....and then my grandfather, Harvey Lee HARRISON 2nd. ..by or before 1919 when my father and his twin siter were born to Lena Rubley Sartain Harrison and Harvey Harrison. My father never knew his mother, Lena. or what became of her. The family is trying to find out now. Some questions I have: Did Frank SARTAIN and Lena RUBLEY SARTAIN have any children? Frank Sartain is said to be buried in Hobbs Cemetery..how might I find out the info on his stone? Is Lena RUBLEY SARTAIN HARRISON buried here also? Are Frank and Lena RUBLEY SARTAIN on the 1910 census in any of these counties? Is Lena RUBLEY SARTAIN HARRISON and Harvey HARRISON on the 1920 census in any of these counties? Are there any Rubley listings on the census 1880 onward in any of these counties? Any help with any of these questions would be soooo appreciated! Thanks so much! Best Regards, Kathy harris@livingonline.com When this you see, remember me
We found two TODD cemeteries in Cannon Co., when we did our Cannon Cemetery Book. http://www.cafes.net/jlewis/cembook.htm One is about 1.5 miles S. of Burt. Several marked stones and 50~75 marked with only a fieldstone. Another is 1.5 miles S.E. of Donnel Chapel, near the Cannon / Rutherford Co. line, back in a "hollow" and hard to get to. None found in Coffee Co., but there is one in Eastern Rutherford Co., beside Big Creek Church (along Hwy 99) The only "marked" Jesse Sissom grave that we found was the one that you found in the Sissom Cemetery (1817-18590 Jess Lewis
Hi Gang, I wonder if any of you have run into a "Todd Graveyard or Todd Cemetery"? I am researching the Sissom line and someone told me that a Jesse Sissom was buried at the "Todd Graveyard". The name is sometimes spelled Scissom or Sisson, as well as other variants. The unfortunate thing is, he did not state the location. If any of you have time to check any cemetery listings for a Jesse Sissom, I would certainly appreciate it very much. I have located the graves of several persons by that name, but have not located the "right one". I need confirmation of the location and the dates of birth and death. I have located Jesse Sissom in Green Hill Cemetery, McMinn County, Tennessee; Hardy Cemetery, Montague County, Texas; Hopewell Cemetery, Coffee County, Tennessee; Palmer City Cemetery, Palmer, Grundy County, Tennessee; Ragsdale Cemetery (2), Manchester, Coffee County, Tennessee; Shady Grove Cemetery, Coffee County, Tennessee and Sissom Cemetery, Cannon County, Tennessee. Thanks a lot, John@Sissom.org
Your message came through just fine. Some of the RootsWeb lists have been down for quite a while now. I don't know the status at this point, but this one is definitely working.
